This was a good hack. Items have been moved around and are found in different order. Some items are outside of palaces now and some things are found in different ways.

It was creative and most things can be found without too much difficulty as long as you search every square every area you go. The difficulty of the fighting and enemy placement doesn't seem any harder than the original but some jumps are more difficult and easier to fall in a pit and die. In general it's a little more difficult than the original but not by much.

It's pretty much like a whole new adventure that's different but similar. The overworld is totally different and in a pretty good way. It's not as brutal of a walk between areas as the harder Zelda 2 hacks. I thought this was a good new Zelda 2 adventure that I definitely recommend. Great job creating this hack.

Innovative but flawed hackdalewickline2019-09-22Version 1.0

I played through the the first palace and started into the second palace so I can't comment on the later portions of the game but so far I have these observations:

Pro: The game has innovative level design and the changes to the world map add an interesting twist. I appreciated the required use of jump to reach the boss for palace one which forces you to fight with jump active. Very cool.

Con: The difficulty level especially in the early game is very unbalanced. There are no roads so expect to get attacked frequently and see enemies that are normally not encountered until the halfway point of the original. There are enemies placed so that you can't proceed without killing them however this requires a ranged attack so you are required to clear out the room and then kill yourself so that you restart with full health. The cave containing the trophy for example.

Final impression: I like the this hack but it needs a balance update. The write up claims that no grinding is required but this is not accurate. It feels like you start at the second half of Zelda 2 without any of the upgrades.
