A great hack with one improvement proposalPoe2020-08-09Version 1.02

I always loved this game since it's been released in 1991 and I can't remember how often I played it over and over again. I was quite excited when I heard about an updated version with some improvements - especially the story.

What shall I say, I haven't been disappointed at all! Finally these annoying names like "Ying" and "Yang" were removed and, in my opinion, the story makes now more sense (related to the German release).

The implemented memory is also quite an improvement in contrary to the password system. However there's still a little bug that I could find when enjoying the game with two players. When the data is saved within the game in the shop (diary) and you reset the game or turn it off, then you can't load the game in the continue screen. If you play just with one player everything works just great.

But this doesn't change my opinion at all. I still like this game with all it's pros and cons though I know the opinions may be divided.

Big fan of this game and series so I was eager to give this a shot.

Basically this is a retranslation. The big focus was changing all the instances of Kid Ying and Dr. Yang to Goemon and Ebisu respectively. The levels are each given new titles as well. Aside from that, I didnt notice too many script differences.

There have been a few graphical updates too, like changing the logo on the title screen and the font has been changed though I didn't really have a problem with the old font. It does look pretty nice.

Some of the censorship has been removed. The Ebisumaru farting show or whatever makes it back in but the strip show seems to be missing. The final level seems to be missing it's title (was that in the original?)

I played through the whole thing in one sitting so I didn't get a chance to try the save file.

Overall, this is a pretty good hack. An updated version that restored the missing scene and a more robust script rewrite would be pretty cool to see though.

Makes the game even betterpausuri2019-11-25Version 1.00

This patch is fantastic, totally recommended. It make the US game more aligned to the Japanese releases. And the sram game saving is top notch, it works with no problem. I even tested the game on real hardware (I used a SHVC-1A3M-30 SNES pcb) without any issues!!
