Hack description

This is a hack bundle that offers various options (which can be combined) to add hidden treasures to often overlooked areas of the overworld map.

List of locations:

1. A new 50gp or 1000gp chest (your choice) chest in the easily-missed far eastern corner of Gaia's Navel. The new chest is guarded by some new slightly tougher monsters than you're supposed to encounter here: Iffish, Water Thug, and Steamed Crab, so this won't be a free lunch! ("Secret of Mana Treasure on Gaia's Navel's Eastern Ledge 1.1")

2. A new 50gp chest behind the infamous secret passage in Matango Inn that conspicuously exists but serves no actual purpose in the original game. With this hack applied, the secret passage takes you to the innkeeper's private treasure, which is now yours for the taking. A side effect of this hack is that it will delete an Iffish from Undine's Cave. (This is to make room in the game's memory for the new treasure chest.) The other two Iffish will still spawn in Undine's Cave though. ("Secret of Mana Steal From Matango Innkeeper 1.2")

3. A new 50gp chest hidden in a previously useless dead end in Matango Caves. ("Secret of Mana Matango Caves Treasure 1.0")

4. A new 50gp chest behind the infamous secret passage in Northtown that conspicuously exists but serves no actual purpose in the original game. A side effect of this hack is that it will delete the old woman in town who creepily says nothing to you when you try to speak to her, even after you clear Northtown Ruins. She was depressing, so she won't be missed. (This is to make room in the game's memory for the new treasure chest.) ("Secret of Mana Treasure in Northtown Woods 1.1")

5. A new 1000gp chest at the top of Mandala Temple, a location rarely visited in the original game. Being able to raid the temple now gives you an incentive to visit this oft-overlooked location. A side effect of this hack is that it will delete a Spider Legs from Kakkara. (This is to make room in the game's memory for the new treasure chest.) There are so many others though, you probably won't miss it. ("Secret of Mana Mandala Temple Treasure 1.0")

6. A new 1000gp chest in Pecard's lighthouse, a location rarely visited in the original game. Being able to steal from Pecard now gives you an incentive to visit this oft-overlooked location. Captain Picard--who Pecard is possibly based on--has repeatedly argued for the unimportance of money anyway, so you should feel zero guilt about taking his. You are trying to save the world, after all. A side effect of this hack is that it will delete an Iffish from outside Undine's Cave. (This is to make room in the game's memory for the new treasure chest.) The other two Iffish will still spawn outside Undine's Cave though. ("Secret of Mana Steal From Pecard 1.0")

Important things to note:

- The Matango Inn, Matango Caves, Northtown, and Gaia's Navel's Eastern Ledge (50gp variant) hacks work with VWF and Relocalized without the need to apply additional support hacks. The others require special instructions:
- How to combine this with the Variable Width Font hack: 1. Apply VWF, 2. Remove header, 3. Apply the desired treasure hack, 4. Apply the desired treasure hack's VWF support.
- How to combine this with Relocalized: 1. Apply Relocalized, 2. Apply the desired treasure hack, 3. Apply the desired treasure hack's Relocalized support.

Great concept, but needs better rewards.Echoherb2021-05-29Version 1.6

I love the concept of this hack. It gives a little more incentive to explore in a game that doesn't really have a lot of hidden things to find.

The reason I wouldn't recommend it is because the chests that are added are not very rewarding, which kind of defeats the purpose. A 50gp value is hardly worth opening the chest for.

Hidden chests should always feel rewarding in my opinion. I'd recommend doubling the GP values, and upping the 50gp amount significantly.

Have this. There's really no reason not to. Having said that, 50 GP seems so little. I was it was in 3 digits. 50 GP can't even get you a barrel.
