| Great Hack With All New Levels | Mureisky | 2024-05-22 | Version 3.0 |
Overall the new levels are done pretty well. Only saw a few minor things with graphics, and enemy placements. Difficulty is about on par with the original game. Only downside is it uses the US Castlevania 3 as a base which was plagued with a bunch of bad changes.
| Super fun new levels - maybe even better than the original | deforres | 2022-03-11 | Version 3.0 |
I grew up with CV3 and I've finished it lots of times, but when I saw this was made by a speedrunner I was worried it would be too hard, despite his assurance that it had difficulty similar to the original. I would agree with that: the difficulty seems very similar and is quite restrained. I had an absolute blast playing through these new levels: they're very well-designed with some nice creativity. I mostly cruised through the game (I did all the routes with Grant), with the odd game over, but there were about 4 levels that gave me trouble. But definitely in a good way. The second last level was the toughest, and I eventually resorted to save states to practice all the sections. But then I went back to do it legit and on my first life one-shotted the whole level. So tough, but fair I think. I was relieved that the "falling block" level was much more restrained than in the original, and was actually fun. So does that make this better than the original game? Maybe. The hack itself is fairly bare-bones, and if you squint you can "see through" it a bit and see the underlying structure of the original CV3. But that doesn't detract from an excellent set of new levels that make the game feel fresh again.
| Great hack! On par with the original | Sosuko | 2021-10-28 | Version 3.0 |
If you're looking for a fresh Castlevania III experience that is put together with solid level design and challenge, this hack delivers. As the creator states in the hack description, this one does a great job of delivering a challenge on part with the original, and provides you with a fair amount of good drops throughout. I played through the game on the 2nd quest with Trevor and Sypha, and can only think of 1 or 2 places where enemy placement made it pretty tricky if not impossible to avoid taking at least one hit. One thing I really appreciate about this hack is how it toned down the final section before Dracula a bit from the original. It gives you the option of acquiring a 1-up that will kill you to get each time (free "reset" for the life), provides a pot roast before the "bat jumping section" and replaces the annoying pendulum jumps with moving platforms instead. If you're a fan of the original, give this one a shot, but unless you're a Castlevania III pro, I'd definitely recommend still using "HELP ME" to save you some trouble :)
| THE GREATEST | VanDam | 2020-06-12 | Version 3.0 |
This is the greatest. Castlevania 3 for NES is my favorite game of all time. This hack looks and feels like castlevania 3 but all levels look completely different with perfect color choices making it feel like a Castlevania 3 part 2. This game is close to perfect in my opinion. So many small details Have been changed everywhere, Totally new level designs and enemy placements, enemies looks changed, everything felt new. It's obvious that a lot of hard work went into this and someone took the time to make this special and I feel so lucky to get to play it. This is like a completely new game and it's so amazing. In my opinion the way of Syfa is a little harder than the original and the way of Alucard is Definitely easier than the original. But you get 7 lives per continue so this game might even be a bit easier to complete than the original. This one doesn't have just a ridiculous amount of annoying flying enemies throughout the entire game which is nice. I enjoy the flying enemies when they are only in certain parts of each level but not when hackers add tons of them everywhere in the whole thing. This game had many new interested things that made some levels harder with where enemies were placed. I enjoyed every minute of it. At this time this is my favorite Castlevania hack and I've played about 40 of them. It had me saying "wow" and "this is great" over and over again. Bosses difficulty was similar to the original but fighting the bosses felt just a little different because of design with the placement of blocks being different. Everywhere you go in this game things have been changed and in a good way that makes it more fun unlike so many other hacks that change things in a bad way. It's like this hacker put their own little twist on everything and it's all great. If you like Castlevania 3 then I am pretty sure that you will like this. Castlevania 3 hacks are extremely rare and I haven't found any others that change the game completely like this one. As far as I know there is nothing else like this. This is my new favorite hack. A must play for any Castlevania 3 fan. This is the best of the best I wish there were more like it.
