Rockman 5 - Blues no Wana! (Japan).nes - NOINTROHack description
This is a recreation of Mega Man 9's Endless Stage for Rockman 5. It is an endurance mode, screens are picked at random, you must get through them and reach a teleporter to move on to the next set of screens. Some of the screens are made from parts of the game's original levels, some are completely original, and others are based on screens from previous Mega Man games. After so many screens you will face a boss. You start with all the master weapons and adapters in this hack, your only goal is to survive for as many screens as possible.Screenshots

| Rockman 5 - Endless - Fun and, in a way, fresh | diablo666 | 2022-01-01 | Version 081215 |
I've done almost all the hacks of the "Endless" series and I meet in the line - the fifth in importance, but not in the account. In addition to the fact that the "old parts of the levels" were introduced, the author also "created his own, unique and not similar to the original - his own levels". This added more replayability, more random rooms, and more unpredictability of the situation. Really, to mix the old and the new, it's interesting. Plus, new mechanics have been introduced, which I have not previously seen in other "Endless" hacks. I recommend that you familiarize yourself with this, even test yourself in the "Hard Mode"

The hack is surprisingly well-made. The levels of Rockman 5 are chopped up into bite-sized pieces and their powerups removed (enemies still drop them, don't know if they drop extra lives, that'd be a bug if they do). You start with one life, all weapons and full weapon energy. Approximately every 30 screens you fight one of the bosses. The sections even have start and end teleporters! The game keeps score of the number of screens you make it through, just like Mega Man 9's endless mode. It doesn't keep track of high scores, and you're also allowed to "continue" after dying, which retains your score (and which means that screenshots are even more inadequate proof of your score than they would otherwise be). In any event, this is one of the best hacks I've seen. Highly recommended. Revision: This review was of an older version of the patch. Since then, I've found that enemies do drop extra lives (but they don't help in any way).
