Love this hack. It's fantastic. The only problem is have found with it is that it is just way too easy to win. Even on the hardest setting I'm flogging the comp by 30 to 40 points every time. This was not the case before I patched the hack. I'd love to see this problem addressed in future updates. 4.5 stars
| Excellent Jam update! | Kyrix | 2019-09-01 | Version 1.95.76 |
NBA Jam T.E. is one of the better sports games for the SNES, providing strong 2P play to begin with. This update is then a must-have update/ companion for anyone who likes the original. If this was just a simple roster update, it'd be neat just to see how the developer rated today's stars I guess, but unlike something like Tecmo Super Bowl, a true update would also require new digitized player headshots, which are all here. In addition, the announcer audio is updated for new team names, and there's a few new surprise exclamations by the announcer which are a lot of fun, at least when you're the one making the shots. I won't comment too much on how the players are rated since everyone will have their own opinions on player ratings. However, I'll make two general points. First, because superstars tend to congregate to the same teams nowadays, some 3-man teams are just dominant here over others, more so than in the original 1995 game. I suppose that makes handicapping for different skill levels easier. Second, three point shooters are more accurate these days but even Steph Curry can only max out with a 3P rating of 9, putting his skill level only on par with the top shooters of the mid 90's. A lot of TLC and effort was put into this one and it shows.
| Fun for fans young and Old! | RexSB | 2019-08-06 | Version 1.95.76 |
The extended rosters are phenomenal, would have liked to see more legends added though (Especially on the Knicks o_O). I'm used to the Genesis version so the added voice lines were a definite plus. This will be a hit with my friends for months to come; I wish there was a feature to adjust rosters on the fly but that is just serious wishful thinking. THANK YOU for allowing us to settle the MJ vs LeBron debate the RIGHT way!
| Dedication, attention to detail, and love for JAM! | Dzumeister | 2019-07-17 | Version 1.95.76 |
eskayelle's third NBA Jam TE hack is incredible. Just scrolling through the readme file, you'll see just how many revisions it took to make this version of the game possible. It took over 200 hours of asm to get to this point, and it shows. Over 160 players are available, and most teams feel well-balanced enough so that you can pick up any of them and not feel too overwhelmed by the competition. The staggering amount of custom-made content, including new graphics, roster overhauls, announcer clips, and more make this an incredible-feeling game to play. If you enjoyed NBA Jam TE originally, this labor of love will feel even better. Grab a friend, get comfy on your couch, and get ready to JAM. (tested on the SNES Classic emulator, but should work flawlessly on normal hardware)
| Must have for the NBA Jam fan! | heyuimintojsus | 2019-07-16 | Version 1.95.76 |
Love the work! Brings an old classic with the new rosters to a must have if you love basketball and the series. The difficulty seems to be the same if not tougher, and the gameplay is still awesome! The only thing I saw - but I don't say it's a downside - is the heads on the select screen are all different sizes seems like. But that doesn't bother me with the way the game plays and the hard work that has been put into it! Also love some of the new custom sounds! Great job!
