Hack description

This patch is meant to make the game a bit easier and less frustrating. Applying this patch to Mega Man 3 will make the weapon energy of all weapons restore fully whenever a life is lost. This mechanic is officially applied in Mega Man games for the PS1 and later.

Situations where this primarily affects the game:
- During boss fights
- Needle Doc Robot Stage (Mandatory Rush Jet)
- Gemini Doc Robot stage (Mandatory Rush Marine)

Included are a patch for the regular Mega Man 3, and one for the Mega Man 3 Improvement hack by kuja killer.

Mmm... Rushed Refills...Eldrethor2021-09-17Version 1.0

Like its predecessors, Mega Man 3 has issues with weapon energy management that make your life miserable if you get killed with your most crucial weapons depleted, but not nearly to the same degree as in Mega Man 2, but I still spend most of the game not using certain weapons because of their costs, like Magnet Missile and Gemini Laser. Top Spin is also grossly bugged, which isn't great because it's one of only two weapons that can harm the last boss.

Coming off of the Refill patches for 1 and 2, I find that the most useful weapons in this game are cost-effective enough that this hack didn't affect my gameplay all that much. While it did allow me to use high-cost weapons more often, I get way more mileage out of low-cost weapons like Shadow Blade and Search Snake. Stage and enemy designs are refined enough at this point that I seldom ever had to swap out the standard Mega Buster, and Wily's stages are generous with weapon energy placements.

As its description states, sections that require Rush Marine are where things are most crucial. It affects Rush Jet too, but its energy consumption can be exploited by jumping repeatedly, and you can take advantage of the screen edges in Needle Man's revisited stage. The refills won't do much for you if you know the ins and outs of this game, but they're a huge improvement for newcomers.

For Mega Man 3, I'd argue that the Refill hack is just as worthwhile as the first two, if just for Rush's sake. It's especially valuable if you're new to all of this, but it won't likely affect you if you've beaten this game repeatedly.
