Hack description

This small hack was made to tackle how cumbersome it was to change spirits/weapons in this game.

The following changes were made:
- B button casts spells
- Running is always toggled
- Hold R button to change weapons/Spirits with the D-pad
- currently selected spirit is displayed on the battle UI

Note: The first Spirit a character gets has to be selected the default way through the start menu. (salamander for boy, wisp for girl)

ver. 1.1:
- Removed tranparency effects on the adjacent icons to give them a more consistent look
- Fixed moogle form walking animation
- Weapon icons position on the screen should stay fixed

Useful and IntuitiveDiojeans2023-08-23Version 1.1

This hack adds a simple, yet much needed feature for this game that significantly improves the pace of battle with just a few button presses. While there are some minor quirks relating to the implementation of this feature, they are not an active detriment to how the game is played, and thus are not worth going into detail here. Therefore, I strongly recommend that anyone interested in playing Sword of Mana first apply this patch before doing so.

Seriously convenient quality-of-life hacktsubasaplayer162022-09-17Version 1.1

This makes things better to not only control the Hero/Heroine, but also switching weapons and spirits be A LOT more flexible during combat. No longer do I have to hold B all the damn time to run and keep pressing start to navigate the menus in order to switch weapons and spirits. It plays so much better because of it. It is just a tiny bit rough on the edges, because there are times when the weapon display (but not the spirit switch display, since it's fixed on the HUD display) drifted/displayed off-screen and I can't see what weapon is being selected. Of course, this happens rarely and still functions as it should, and the only noticeable area where this happens is in the Dime Tower when you're on one of the floors that makes you go higher into the sky, but even then it gets fixed when you enter another area since the game isn't making your character move positions on the Z (or Y, I don't know) axis or something. I believe this would be avoided if the weapon display will be in a fixed position in the HUD by putting it above the player HP and portrait display instead of on top of the player sprite. Regardless, this is a good quality-of-life hack that makes the game better to control and I highly recommend playing the game with this. I got though the entire game with this QoL hack without any major game-breaking bugs.

Fantastic!betspen2020-12-08Version 1.1

Sword of Mana is a game I both love and hate. I love the gameplay, and the class system is simple yet rewarding. What I can't stand is the convoluted story and the frequent, drawn out cutscenes... Sorry, I've digressed.

This hack is absolutely amazing. It took me a little while to get used to the new controls, but once I did it is so much better than going to the menu to swap weapons/spirits. Highly, highly recommended hack! :)

Simple Changes Makes It BetterMorinis2020-02-03Version 1.0

Things that are described above by the author really does make it feel better.

I do recommend this as I have no complaints about this :)
