Hack description

After many hours of creating and play-testing and countless revisions here is Metro Android 2 which is the sequel to author's first hack Metro Android 1.

Metro Android 2 used Metro Android 1 as its starting point but then greatly expanded upon it utilizing all that the author learned while making 1st hack Metro Android 1.

NOTE: "AVOIDABLE" GAME BREAKING GLITCH PRESENT IN "HIDEOUT 1"...

Continuing after a game over in Hideout 1 will result in a game breaking glitch. The way to avoid this is to NOT game over and/or continue while in Hideout 1. This is only an issue in Hideout 1. Problem can be avoided by exploring & escaping Hideout 1 in a single life without dying. Save states recommended at least while in Hideout 1 for this reason.

Please see Readme for prologue and other information, etc. Enjoy!

Poor design, again.gravitygoesup12020-05-12Version 1.0

This hack manages to somehow be worse than the first Metro Android. It suffers again from poor level design and enemy placement.

The first room is an immediate sign that the hack is not designed with Metroid physics in mind. There are empty spaces in the floor and the ceiling is open, meaning that Samus can fall through the floor and wrap around to the top, which is how horizontal scrolling in Metroid works. Same for vertical shafts: Samus can wrap from the left to right, vice versa. This means you can skip the entire left section of the room, which is too tight for platforming without morph ball anyway.

Once you get to the lava pit at the right side of the room, you jump on the platform only to be hit by a ripper placed in a spot so that it hits you right when you jump over. Nice.

In the second room, a waver will hit you two seconds after you exit the door. This hit is unavoidable, unless the waver's flying direction puts him in the fake blocks, but more often than not you will be hit. You shoot blocks to go down the shaft, and then it gets worse from there. I was able to see the morph ball, but it was in another room. I couldn't find how to get to it. Also, shooting the blocks and avoiding the ripper to get back up the shaft is extremely annoying.

Obviously, I did not finish this hack, but I kept dying and dying over and over again, not because of my lack of skill, but because of the poor design of this hack. The hack is not fun and punishes the player more than it rewards.

There are also several spots where Samus can get locked by falling through the floor, wrapping around and into a hole in the ceiling.

Tl;dr: do not play this.

Bug IssueStixsmasterHD2020-05-04Version 1.0

Hate to say it but the game bug presented is 1 that the dev can easily avoid.

If you want people to be able to complete the hack you dont design a room that has enemies that may kill you but because of that design it can also corrupt your save.

i mean besides that game breaking error on the devs behalf yes id say its playable.
