Hack description

What if Nintendo created a DLC track pack for Super Mario Kart in 1992? The aim of this hack is to make a compliment to the original game. Super Mario Kart featured courses named for Mario, Koopa and Bowser. This has new themes for the other 5 characters plus a revamp of the Mario, Bowser and Rainbow Road courses. In addition to 20 all-new standard tracks, it also features 4 new battle courses.

The roster is mostly the same but Donkey Kong Jr. has been replaced with regular Donkey Kong and Koopa is replaced with Paratroopa.

3.0 Updates:
-Added Mirror Mode version
-Added "Pure Racing Edition" (regular and Mirror) versions with no coins or items
-Various graphical upgrades
-Adjusted brightness on race position numbers on two course themes
-Tweaked difficulty on one track

2.6.1 Updates:
-Fixed an incorrect block near the finish line of Luigi Mansion 2 that knocks you off the track
-Moved some item block locations in the battle courses to make them slightly easier to get and added a few to two of the standard tracks so they all have at least 10.
-Minor graphics updates to the offroad sections of the Yoshi Island tracks

2.6 Updates:
-Swapped the names/icons for the first two cups to better align with the rest of the series.
-Reworked the second jump section in Mario Raceway 3 so it is less confusing
-Changed the oil slicks to water puddles so they are easier to see
-Updated graphics on the tire obstacles so they are easier to see
-Fixed the incorrect balloon color on Battle Arena 4 and touched up the course
-Various graphical touch-ups.

The level design in this hack is excellent, and feels like an expansion of the original game. Many of the tracks feel much more difficult, but in ways that don't wear out their welcome, and the player is encouraged to learn some advanced techs to perform well. Good variety in the challenges present from track-to-track. Highly recommend this hack.

For those that love the original game, this is absolutely fabulous. It retains the feel of the original, while updating the courses with a fresh batch of scenery and color palettes. The courses from a racing perspective are completely revamped and well designed. They feel faithful, but also new and updated. They're very tight, and almost seems less glitchy than the original. Unlike other hacks of this game I've tried, this doesn't go overboard with too many boosts, jumps, and item boxes. Very highly recommend this!

I've been trying out several SMK ROM hacks that just didn't grab my attention, had my eye on this one, and after seeing the very enthusiastic review posted previously I finally went for it. And it really does what it sets out to do - making as if Nintendo released a DLC. I'm impressed, don't really have much to add. Except to note that it works on real hardware as well. Having a spare DSP1 cartridge (SHVC-2K3X-01) I just finished putting this on there through an EPROM - "old school" DLC indeed :-)

A very amazing and tremendous SMK Rom Hack	Retro Master HD	2021-03-24	Version 2.1
I think this has got to be by far the best Super Mario Kart Rom Hack I have ever played, really love the graphics and the tracks and the designs of them both. You obviously put quite an awful lot of time and hard work into this incredible Rom Hack of yours. I'm definitely recommending this Hack and I'm also giving it a straight up 10/10. Really hope to see another amazing Super Mario Kart Rom Hack like that in the future. Keep up the amazing work. :D
