Almost PerfectDubious332022-09-02Version 1.5

Played through this over the last few days.

  • Great being able to catch starters and Eevees.
  • I didn't mind the gen 6 typing. It basically only effects resistances/weaknesses for Clefairy, Jigglypuff and Magnamite. And the move bite being a good counter to psychics and ghosts made things interesting sometimes
  • Not many quality of life changes, but it's made to give you that slow gen 1 experience. (Which I like personally).
  • Unfortunately the trade Pokémon don't evolve at level 50 for me (tried rate candies, battling, etc).

Overall good time. Was slightly disappointed with my Graveler not evolving, but what can you do?

Great Hack - Almost perfectVardnar2020-12-22Version 1.5

Almost perfect. For reference I played with the ganbatte core on retroarch; not sure if that matters. I had a couple issues: 1. Sometimes Pokémon just wouldn't learn moves they were supposed to, it happened a couple times. For example right at the beginning of the game, my Pidgey didn't learn sand-attack at level 5. So I had to ditch it and catch one already at level 5 who had sand-attack. 2. Graveler, Kadabra, Machoke all did not evolve at level 50. I tried rare candies, I tried leveling normally - nothing. I tried using rare candies all the way to level 100, nothing. It's not game-breaking or anything, but it leaves a bit of a sour taste.

The rest of the game worked fine. I caught almost every Pokémon I could. Bite being dark made some Pokémon great against psychics, and Clefairy and Mr. Mime having fairy typing made them more interesting to use. I generally never use Mr. Mime in playthroughs. I appreciated the fact that there were no unnecessary 1% encounter rates for Pokémon. I get why people do it to make the Pokémon feel special, but sometimes I just wanna get moving, not slog through 100 encounters waiting for a Squirtle or whatever it is. The improved back sprites were mostly great. The game ran well otherwise, no weird slowdown or glitches. Just would've been nice to not have to use the mew glitch for those last few Pokémon *shrug*. I think if that gets worked out, then this would be a definitive way to play red/blue.

Not reallyYassQ2020-09-30Version 1.5

I found this, read the notes and was really overjoyed that the Trade Evolution Pokemon can now be evolved into normally, unlike the Red Emu edition hack (Where they are only found already evolved, forcing you to ditch your already trained pre-evolved ones for them). I was really happy this now existed. And then, the biggest letdown: It isn't compatible with the Color hack... So, it isn't the 'definitive authentic Gen 1 experience'... I thought immediately. Such a shame. I can guess it's because of the Space World hack sutff, and perhaps the Gen 6 typing hack as well.(I thought this was supposed to be the definitive authentic Gen 1 experience... Shouldn't the hack stick as close to vanilla as possible then, if it's 'authentic'? Why add the Gen 6 typing? I just want to catch all the Pokemon while having fun, and colors contribute to that factor by a lot.) And those back sprites are already included in the color hack, and with COLOR... And I can chose having a colorful fun experience over having the Gen 6 typing any time of the day. So... not really close to being the definitive way to play the gen 1 games.

Very smooth and enjoyableCococette2020-06-17Version 1.2

Hey this is a very enjoyable experience of what the game could have been with every Pokemon unlockable without going for glitches thanks!

So far the only Pokemon I can not seem to encounter is the extra two Eevees to have the other two evolutions. Where should I look for them?
