A fun hack, but not for everyone.Scposteel2023-09-20Version 1.2

Rockman 6: Unique Harassment is the kind of hack that simply put isn't for everyone. It's a total revision of the classic game, with quite a but of charm to it. However that charm comes with a major cavoite, and that is a pretty steep difficulty curve.

To start with the positives, I really enjoyed the set of robot masters here. It was a nice variety that complimented the game. I also liked that they all had new and unique attack abilities and patterns. It really freshened things up. I also liked the homages to Dragon Quest, as you play you'll notice them. I also liked that Doc Robot was brought back as a mini boss for the stages, as it added to the overall experience. Lastly the overall presentation was indeed unique, thought out and brought together well.

Now for the negatives, the first is the powerups. They're all completely different from what you would expect, but I honestly found more use from the Power Adaptor than anything else (except for the boss fights). The second is the big elephant in the room with this, and that is the difficulty. This isn't an easily accessible hack, and may turn away your more casual players. In particular the boss fights can get particularly aggravating as they all have two life bars and really relentless attack patterns.

So do I recommend this hack? I do, but with just barely. There is a lot of good to be had, and it is well put together, but that difficulty is only for the most hardcore of fans. If you're patient with it, you may find some enjoyment from it.

Here's your "reality check": the minibosses in this hack are Robot Masters.CantThinkOfAnythingClever2023-09-04Version 1.2

That's right, Robot Masters (using Doc Robot sprites). With healthbars and i-frames and everything. But hey, that's as easy as the NES games, right? *rolls eyes for ten minutes*

You wanna know how I know this hack is too hard? Because losing lives is turned off JUST for the stage bosses. That is the ultimate white flag of game design: breaking the rules of the game just to fix something that's broken. "Okay okay, it's too hard, but instead of tweaking it I'll just give you infinite tries, how's that." Not good, author! Not good!

Look, the game is technically great. There's new bosses, new stages, new weapons, new features, even a few new graphics. I highly recommend it if you like banging your head against walls. But if you don't, if you want a Mega Man game that's as fun to play as Mega Man, look elsewhere. That's the reality.

Severely front loaded difficulty curvenucleargodhead2023-09-03Version 1.2

I am someone who is fairly experienced at playing Mega Man/Rockman games, especially the classic series. I generally do not have much trouble playing any of the NES games especially, and when it comes to fan projects that are intentionally more difficult such as Mega Man Rock n' Roll, I still have a fairly good time.

Most of the time I spent playing this hack revolved around trying to beat my first robot masters, and I sincerely believe it is by far the most difficult thing I have ever done in any Mega Man game, official or fan made. It took a great deal of trial and error, going through every single stage to find even a single robot master I could beat with only the buster. I eventually settled on Tomahawk Man. While trying to find out who was weak to Tomahawk Man's weapon, I decided to fight Chill Man with the buster as well. He was still miserably difficult because of the engine and the ice physics, but he is probably the easiest.

I would not have done that had I known just how pathetically easy the game becomes once you start following the boss order. The weapons in this game are incredibly overpowered and have nigh endless ammo, enough for you to completely tear through every single boss with their weakness in record time. You barely have to move at all or think about what you are doing.

The game almost universally locks E Tanks behind having a specific adaptor or weapon. It's not unheard of for a Mega Man game to require you to use an item or a weapon for one at all, but when I was fighting Tomahawk Man and Chill Man, I was left begging for even a single E Tank to push myself to victory and get me past that initial hurdle. I can only remember one instance in Spark Man's stage where an E Tank is simply available, if you happen to know where it is. Of course, once I beat my first masters, I no longer needed one for the rest of them.

The fact that every single boss in the game has two health bars and phases, with a full heal in between, is perhaps the weirdest design decision I have ever seen in a Mega Man game. It is a decision that I think is wildly inappropriate for the structure of a Mega Man game, and the biggest deciding factor (aside from overpowered boss weapons) that contributes to both the high initial difficulty and the extremely low difficulty post first boss. When you repeatedly try and fail against a Mega Man boss you are fighting for the first time, it is using its attacks in a different order, meaning that through every life you are learning the entire boss at once. When you add another phase, the player has to start from square one again after an already incredibly difficult fight. The full heal is not nearly enough of a mercy as you are immediately killed by the new phase's attacks. You aren't given a chance to reorient yourself or react to the phase change as the boss immediately starts using their new pattern, often continuing an attack from the last phase. I frequently found myself getting through Tomahawk Man's first phase without taking any damage, only to be immediately killed by his second phase without taking off even two points of damage. Once I started using robot master weapons against bosses, the second phase and health refill essentially meant I could literally never lose. If I was tanking attacks from the boss while spamming its weakness, I would just be healed again before ever coming close to dying.

The Jet Adaptor completely removes any difficulty from the game at all once you obtain it. You get four hops in the air, and you can fly over entire stages, ignoring any and all obstacles. The Wily Stages in this game are easier than any in the official games, because all of them can be trivialized by the Jet Adaptor that you are forced to have. I'm rarely the kind of person who gets bored of a game because it is easy... but that's what happened to me here. It got to the point where I was playing negligently and complacently, and every time it caused an accidental death, I would just use an emulator rewind because I just wanted the game to be over. I completely stopped caring once I hit the Wily stages.

I have warmed up to this hack more since my initial first sessions with it, but I would like people to know what they are getting into when they try this game. I highly recommend using save states for your first robot master fight, because it WILL be brutally difficult. As an aside, I obtained all four upgrades in the robot master stages, but I am not entirely sure what they do...

A Masterpiece!!Juaramboocha2022-09-08Version 1.0, 1.2

Personally i think this game is, so well thought out. i have 47 hours of playtime in Playnite and i discovered a lot of stuff; who knows what else i haven't found? there's even an instadeath mode which i have never ever seen anyone bring up. i've completed it, was fun.

The game comes with a bunch of cool features such as

1. The weapon and adapter quick swapping helps to keep the pace quick

2. The adaptors themselves are greatly upgraded from their original versions. Power Adaptor makes quick work of several enemies as their main or secondary weakness and you can find a lot more bonuses or shortcuts with it. (the game is littered with the former, best part is there are other ways to grab them) Jet Adaptor can help speed up platforming challenges which in these games aren't bad, they're really good. But sometimes it's fun to find a way to get things done faster.

3. The new upgrades are pretty good. Triple Barrier, Weapon Fuel, Extra Body, Tank Charger.

4. Weapons are extremely powerful, and there's more than meets the eye to them, even seemingly underwhelming ones suit different playstyles.

5. Grabbing a 1UP when you have 9 restores all your health and weapon energy instantly, rewarding you for keeping up.

The game is hard BUT for the all the reasons listed it gives you enough tools to be on the same playing field of flashy spectacle as whatever the game throws at you. AND I LOVE IT FOR THAT. The game is also filled with so much fanservice!! i loved how much respect and love was given to all the material from the franchise.

more reasons why i think it's well thought out:

The Dokuro Bot minibosses are made much better than in 3. For diehard fans like me it feels super satisfying to put them down. They're not the main event, so they get 1 health bar and much shorter iframes; to not drag the pace.

The combined set of tiles from other games makes a great aesthetic, like, the dark descent in Tomahawk's. there are a lot of moments like that; and the music really fits the level's choices always; and the music is so good.

A lot gimmicks are rethinked for platforming that you have to solve; and none of these require any insane level of skill.

i could go on and on, and i know i repeated myself in some points maybe but aaannyway. IF you haven't played this game you're doing yourself a huge disservice. TRY IT OUT!!!

Rockman 6: Unique Harassment - Something that has two faces. How strange is this?diablo6662021-12-07Version 1.0-1.2

v. 1.0 : Good day. You know, this hack caused a twofold sensation. And I liked it, and it was the most INFURIATING thing I've ever played.

I played it in three stages: Learning... (it was very painful, reached Wily's Castle 1), Passing (Save had to be used), strengthening the results in "Find everything" mode and "I missed everything" mode.

The graphics and music were excellent. Even a very good one. I liked it all (but one track did not fit at all, or rather in the penultimate stage, because the point? Why introduce such positive music?) My favorite track from here: "Boss Battle" (music taken from the game Street Fighter X Megaman)

The enemies are taken from various games about Megaman (OFFICIAL GAMES, FAN GAMES, and even HACKS). However, some enemies have their own characteristic behavior, some do not, and some are new, different from other enemies. And this is an interesting portion of delicious food.

Bosses are divided into 2 categories: Main bosses (robomaster and bosses in the castle) and mini bosses (Doc Bots and a couple of mini bosses from part 6).

  • About Mini bosses: They are all Doc bots, HOWEVER - they use robomaster techniques from various games about Megaman (including even games released on the Game Boy, and even 11 parts). They are exhausting if you do not fight them correctly, they are easy to pass if you use them correctly. And if you have the Ability from the main bosses - you can find their weakness and you will pass them in one breath. THANK GOD THEY HAVE THE SAME HEALTH SCALE.
  • Than the main bosses. The main bosses have 2 health scales, two types of attack patterns, and it is infuriating if you do not find the weakest of them, and do not take on a reserve of 4 E-tank. (The weakest - it seemed to me, was Pharaoh Men, I may be wrong, but I easily understood his actions). AND THIS IS EVERY BOSS CHIEF - EVERYONE. EVERYONE HAS A DAMN 2 HEALTH SCALES. WHY??? WHY??? One is enough for us.

However, I didn't finish. Bosses in most cases are good. Almost all bosses are good, but I will single out the two that spoiled my nerves the worst, BECAUSE I CAME to THEM WITHOUT the NECESSARY number of E-TANKS, without knowing exactly what they are, and how it will end. The first boss who turned out to be a thorn in my place is the boss in Wily's Castle 1. Damn DEVIL. I thought there would be a dragon, although it would be beaten, but BETTER than IT. The problem is that the blocks are moving and you have to hold on. It turns into deadly cubes, you have to Dodge it, and even Dodge eye shots, BUT hit the eye. And the funny thing is, you have to use an ability that you don't think you can use at all... This is ridiculous. But NO, the second phase is much worse than the first. It can move at you, it often shoots directly at you... and it's very easy to fall into a hole... For that kind of torture? The first time - I spent ALL 9 E-tanks, despite the fact that I found all the secret things. MAKE THE HELL OUT OF THIS BOSS MORE PASSABLE... I HAVE A DAMN... EXPLOSIVE EFFECT WAS.

The second boss who pissed me off - or rather, the bosses... The final MACHINE WILY. The reasons are as follows: Three times we have to defeat the boss with two strips of lives, plus his behavior patterns change, save the E-Tanks to a more complex machine, do not lose the ability, OTHERWISE if you have a lot of lives, but no abilities - you will not pass it. What's the point of doing this? Why do I need to complicate it again with two phases? Okay two phases, then loosen them... And if not, then let the damage be less to us... In short, another disappointment.

Stages - all stages are good, but you know, in Wily Castle - it's kind of easy... we might not have been so comfortable there, because we have a flying suit, and this is still a super thing. However, I will not forgive the stage where we fight Robomasters again. For this stage is made in style Rockman and Forte (And I hate such an unconscionable decision). Fortunately, the penultimate boss there is good and pleasant, but the music is not in the theme...

The abilities we get. Most favorite: "hologram". The double takes your damage, can save you from spikes (but not from pits), it is spent little by little, it works even after you go to another screen (the hologram in the boss rooms is disabled, so you will have to activate it again), and it is a weapon that can be fired in 8 directions. Ideal as a Cheat Sword.

"Bird help" - homing helpers that attack the target.

"Sparkle" - the principle of the Blaster: not charged - weak damage, but you can direct either up or down. Charged - the damage is stronger, but you become faster by 3 times (expends energy). Charged sparkle - works until the next screen, so think - where better to take it.

"Cold flow" - works as a shot, and when sliding.

"Pharaoh's spheres" are useful for almost all shots. The distribution of the spheres takes place in two cycles.

"Emerald rain" - from the name it is clear how it works approximately.

"Vacuum cleaner" - an ability that takes the lives of enemies, bosses, and gives you part of the treatment. Convenient thing, but similar already in another hack saw.

"Napalm bombs" - works in 8 directions, bomb.

Secrets. I almost forgot about it. Stages - keep secrets for your character. Some give more lives, more invulnerability time, and a share - free pot of abilities energy. And without the jet and power suits - you just can't pick them up, and you'll have to study everything.

The conclusion is this. If you choose between this and Rockman 4 minus infinity - I will choose the second, because in the second - much less pain than here for those who started playing in other versions of the original. And for those who want to experience something new and you need even more than that second hack I said? THIS is what you need. Whether it is good or bad - in your opinion. My opinion is 50/50. The music, graphics, levels and features in the levels are in good harmony (thanks for Scrap Brain Zone in Stage Castle X act 2), the secrets are hidden skillfully, the abilities are good in their own way. A bad thing: the enemies have 2 energy scales. And some bosses are difficult, unfair difficult. Two-faced hack. You might like it, but I'll put it on... But whether you agree with me or not is your right.

v 1.1 : Much easier, more passable, more honest. Ordinary people can already pass such a hack (note: anyway, find an E-tank, because although bosses have become easier, they are important). THIS IS THIS VERSION RECOMMENDED TO ALL!

v 1.2: There were errors that did not exist before.

1. in some locations, if you do not have a "Hologram" or "Flying Suit", then wait for spikes or unpleasant jams on the levels, because here the platforms disappear if the screen is too far away. In early versions , there was no such problem.

2. One of the walls, at the stage of "Mr. X", or rather on the ship, closer to the approach to the boss, breaking the wall, it will break with distortion. In what sense? It will not break the block that you hit with the "Power suit", but like below... and you will try to go there, although the block is in place. The result: You pass through the block, scroll the screen - and the hole goes to the right place.

Minor, but unpleasant. I hope the author sees this and fixes it.

P.S.: You know, this will probably be after the main opinion, after updating the opinion ... ADD TO STATISTICS, because we need to know how many lives and E-tanks we spent per game.

Technical masterpiece. Just a few issuesSosuko2021-09-11Version 1.2

Just wow. The things the creator was able to do with this hack in terms of technical accomplishments are simply amazing (on par with the New Year hacks by Puresabe). While the levels have some cool mechanics and solid design throughout, where the hack truly shines are in the bosses and weapons. Each boss has 2 phases to them and each phase has an entirely unique and interesting pattern. I don't want to spoil too much, but one example would be Jewel Man, whose first phase involves fighting 3 elemental crystals (ala Culex from SMRPG) and whose second phase involves him dropping crystals and swapping places with you. Each boss brings this level of creative and fun to them, and honestly none of them felt boring or cheap. To make things even better, as of the most recent version, you get unlimited continues once you get to the boss room and get a health refill in between the 2 phases. For this reason, I actually used only my buster when fighting the bosses the first time. It was really satisfying to figure out their patterns and beat them after a few tries.

As mentioned, the weapons are almost just as good of a high point of this hack, with many having several different usages and properties. For example, Spark Man's weapon (my favorite) can be used for no energy at all and redirected once after fired. It can also be charged up like your buster to use energy in exchange for entering a powered up state with faster movement and a strong piercing electric shot. They were a blast to use together with the modified power and jet adaptors.

Honestly, the only negative I can give is that in the 1.2 form, the game is a little on the easy side and some weapons are pretty overpowered. I found myself handicapping myself to not using the jet adaptor in most levels since it makes all platforming an absolute joke. Even in the Wily stages, the platforming almost treats it like the adaptor doesn't exist, which is a strange design choice given that it is an unmissable powerup. In terms of weapons, Jewel Man's will absolutely demolish anything you use it on. I don't even know what boss is "technically" weak to it since when I tried it on a few of them, they all melted near equally as fast.

All that being said, this hack is amazing and I highly recommend it to all Megaman fans of any skill level

Massively improved with the patchRendood2021-06-24Version 1.2

This is an extremely heavy mod of Mega Man 6, with very little remaining from the original. Bosses and levels are often taken from other games (Tomahawk is the only big OG representative here), and Rush Power and Jet adaptors were altered too, with Jet allowing 4 consecutive air jumps (very fun!), and Power dealing some damage even when it misses.

The arsenal in this game is an absolute joy. Every single weapon is OP and most have a secondary effect. Tomahawk Assist is a strong tracking projectile that also saves you from pits. Galaxy Vision is a clone that absorbs all damage and collects items for you. Chill Slip is an infinite wavy shot with an invincible fast slide attack.

This hack used to be very unforgiving before it got patched. Now I'd say it's pretty fair. The first boss you fight is always going to be a problem because bosses in Unique Harassment have 2 health bars, and you don't have special weapons yet, but don't feel discouraged: from the second boss on, they all fall easily to their weakness. Also worth mentioning that you don't lose lives against bosses, and you get a free HP refill between boss phases. I believe neither of those features were in the unpatched release.

Highly recommend this hack, as long as you're okay with struggling vs. that first boss. Lots of cool surprises here that were tailor-made to please any classic Mega Man fan.

Nice hack, but...gustavocomvoce2020-06-19Version 1.1

Version 1.0 The game has countless qualities: several enemies, great music, graphics and very strong boss weapons.

However, the game sins due to the high degree of difficulty - it ends up being boring. Especially against bosses, as 5/6 hits kills Megaman. And the bosses have 2x more HP.

The developer should mitigate the bosses' damage against Megaman. It's no fun getting Game Over 10x until you kill a boss (without save states).

Version 1.1 Made the game extremely fun. One of the best hacks out there. Recommended!

People who don't recommend this game because of its difficulty need a reality checkVintageDavis2020-06-17Version 1.1

This is without a doubt one of the best MM ROM hacks out there. It's a real shame that the MM ROM hacking community has slowed down with the hacks significantly in the last couple of years, and I'm really glad that hacks like this pop up from time to time.

The game is not as difficult as people say (though I remember a Gray Zone review where someone said that you are a god if you beat Air Man's stage, so yeah the reviews tend to be all over the place). The stages are quite simple, only Chill Man's stage, and one of Mr. X's stages gave me a hard time. I had 9 lives for the most part.

The bosses are great. The fact that they have two health bars does not mean that the game is ridiculously difficult or unfair (just look at the Zero series), especially when you get a health refill after getting through the first phase. Not to mention that after every Wily form defeated you get a Yashichi. AND, you get loads of E-tanks throughout the entire game. Also, the bosses can be brute forced with their weaknesses (so can the bosses in Yendor Code, yet some reviews claim that the bosses are impossible in that game, again, reviews are all over the place). This game also has some of the most unique bosses in MM ROM hacks ever, like the RPG boss (though this one kinda sucks if you don't know Japanese, I could not tell what attacks were about to be performed by the boss). I also really liked the MM Unlimitedesque boss rush gauntlet (or Rockman & Forte as well, I guess).

This might be my new favorite Rockman 6 ROM hack, as Skype/Spirits of Hackers will be finished in approximately 859 years, and it also might be in my top 5 or maybe even top 3 favorite MM ROM hacks, Install Metal remains first for now. I strongly recommend this ROM hack.

Difficulty wise, I'd say it's about 5-6/10 normally (you can really abuse Jewel Origin, Tomahawk Assist, and *insert Pharaoh Man's weapon name here* to brute force the stages, and weaknesses to brute force the bosses), and probably a 8-10/10 when doing Buster Only (I haven't tried BO yet, so I don't really know).

P.S. I did not use any save states during my playthrough. I also don't understand people who review these hacks and as soon as a ROM hack is even mildly challenging they are like: "impossible, gotta use save states." Like, come on people.

Too difficult to enjoyKevvyLava2020-06-06Version 1.0

Once again, someone put a lot of time into a rom hack that almost no one will actually enjoy. The difficulty on this is VERY high, to a point where it is unrewarding. The game features bosses and enemies from several Mega Man games, and every single enemy is designed to be as annoying as possible. At the midpoint of each level is a Doc Man robot featuring another boss, and you the checkpoints are after that. Music is well done and level design is good...it's really a shame that the author decided to make it so difficult. I couldn't recommend this to really anyone except people that want to use save states on every single level.

A stunning hack, now better balanced than at firstcschifani2020-06-05Version 1.1

This hack is made by Tatsu, who made the brutal yet technically impressive hack, "Rockman 2: Basic Master." This hack is quite different, adding in new Robot Masters, new weapons, new music, and new ideas on a level not seen since Rockman 4: Minus Infinity or Rockman 2 CX. It's that technically impressive, even featuring an 8-bit fight against Rockman 11's Tundra Man. Version 1.1 has recently been released, which goes a long way toward mitigating the vicious difficulty of the original by making second-phase bosses reset your life bar, too, when they move to phase two. That, plus unlimited extra lives so you don't need to use save states to train for that first crucial boss fight and several other bugfixes and quality of life changes, make this hack an easy one to recommend, difficult though it is at times. I especially applaud Tatsu's thoughtfulness in addressing many of the issues in his hack so quickly and carefully.

Lives Up to the Name – I Feel Uniquely-HarassedJosephine Lithius2020-06-02Version 1.0

I'm going to preface this review by saying that I only tried two stages before I threw down my controller in frustration.  That said, I did not finish this game, nor do I plan to.

To put it bluntly, this ROM hack is balanced very poorly.  The level design is fine, for the most part, but there are a lot of cheap hits and "got'cha" moments that will drain the player's life energy.  This, coupled with power-ups being grouped in clusters rather than scattered around a stage leads to some very frustrating "I'm gonna die" moments.

Doc Robots appear in this game.  From what I can tell, there's one in every stage as a mini-boss.  This would be fine... if not for the fact that the Doc Robots are perfect copies of Robot Masters, just as they were in Mega Man 3.  Having them appear half-way through the stage means that the player is going to be worn out from an intense fight and looking for Life Energy Capsules.  Unfortunately, like I said, there are very few to be found when they're really needed.

And finally, the stage bosses.  They're too strong to fight with just the Buster.  The one I fought, Dustman, had a lot of hard-to-avoid attacks, two life bars, a mode-change with an even-harder-to-avoid attack, and for some reason, the ability to turn into a completely invincible copy of Metalman from Mega Man 2 for, like, ten solid seconds!  I hate when a boss wastes my time, like that!!

As for the positives?  It's pretty.  The level design is decent.  The music is fantastic!  And, of course, the technical quality of the hacking is absolutely amazing, what with all the imported/repurposed enemies, new bosses, fixed bugs, and all that.  Too bad the game had to be too challenging for its good, or else this could have been the next Rockman 4 Minus Infinity...

For that reason, I cannot recommend this ROM hack for the average player, but I welcome people who are looking for an extreme challenge to give it a whirl.

Everything great but difficultyYave2020-06-01Version 1.0

After Rockman 2 BM, Tatsu made a new huge-modified hack, and it's on Rockman 6! Which have a little high-modified hack. Great graphic, great music, decent level design and poor difficulty! First I talking about boss. Every big boss have 2 HP meters (56HP), their acting is fast and complex, so that made me difficult. Second about level design. I like some shortcuts, but that's all, for some reason I feel Mega Man 4 Voyage's level design is better than this, so that's why I say it decent. Third about password. Tatsu doesn't want you use password to skip game! If you do, you will start with 1HP! However there still exists a few normal password. Fourth about lifebar position. For some reason I don't like Boss HP shows on right side, so edit $7CF69 value to 28 then Boss HP will return to left if you don't like it too. Overall, I still recommend this hack, but please prepare the difficult game or use savestate.

Insane (but awesome) bosses, fans of Basic Master will be pleasedNARFNra2020-06-01Version 1.0

When I saw a new Rockman 6 hack came out, I was super excited. It was only after I got to the first boss that I remembered who Tatsu was. Luckily, I'm a fan of Basic Master, and I think U.H.'s boss fights tend towards a little more fair.

Basically, Unique Harassment is a really cool hack. It changes almost everything, new art, new music, porting enemy ai from all across the series, etc. The stages themselves have unique gimmicks and fun musical themes which are all rendered excellently, as well as great art choices. It's truly a stellar hack.

The shining crowns in this hack are its weapons and its boss fights, though. The weapons are EXTREMELY powerful, each one providing a super useful set of abilities. The bosses are designed to be made easier by using almost any weapon, not just their weakness, so there's a lot of room for experimentation and taking different paths through the game.

The thing that's simultaneously coolest and also extremely scary, though, are those aforementioned boss fights. I'll be real: I advise save stating at the pre-boss checkpoints to train for these guys. Tatsu went ALL OUT on them. Every boss in the game has two life bars, and goes from a first phase that would be kinda tough in a normal Mega Man game to a second phase that's insanely taxing and forces you to really get in the zone, learning each boss's strategy. Once you get a weapon bosses and stages become much much easier, but the first one is extremely tough to get to. I recommend Chill Man.

Right now I'm stuck on the final boss, which is beyond ridiculous. I should note that the fortress stages are balanced for you to use your normal abilities, so you don't have to worry about an extremely hellish gauntlet - you can, if you want, rely on your special weapons and tools to get through them without too much trouble. There's also cool upgrades that give you things like free lives at checkpoints which are fun to discover.

Ironically, for me the fact that the fortress stages DON'T require intense weapon use is a little bit of a negative. I was really a fan of Basic Master's unrelenting cruelty, and there's none of that. On the other hand, every single boss fight in the game, including every single Fortress Boss, is absolutely insane to fight buster only (while being very cheesable with weapons), so if you're itching to train something against something absolutely terrifying, you can always try that.

Overall, I recommend Unique Harassment. It's hardest when you have no weapons and that's most likely the phase that'll put you off if you're not a great player. But if you keep at it (and again, I deeply advise save stating before bosses because it's not worth playing the stages over and over just to get practice on these guys), then the game opens up a lot more once you get weapons. Unlike Basic Master, the Fortress Stages also letting you cheese them opens the game up to those who want to try to beat them savestate less, or to those who just want to get to the end of the game, so I enjoy the flexibility.

But really, the final boss is insane.
