Hack description

This is a hack of Zelda 2 that was made during the Summer of 2019. It's an ASM hack that adds a second player named Lonk. Lonk is an almost perfect clone of Link and fully compatible with everything in the game. He is the main feature of this hack but there are some more features added as well.

Some, but not all, enemies have been reprogrammed to let them target Lonk. Both players share HP and levels, but despite this the game is quite a bit easier with two players.

There is a difficulty selection based on which file you play on. File 1 is normal/unchanged. File 2 is Easy Mode, which halves enemy damage. File 3 is Hard Mode, which doubles enemy damage.

This is version 1.1, which fixes a ton of bugs from the original unreleased version. It also adds Lonk on the overworld. You can't control him, but he follows Link around.

Check the readme for slightly more information!

Amazing work, thank you for this!Simon Belmont2022-01-27Version 1.1

Zelda 2 is one of my favourite NES game, and I'm super happy to be able to play it co-op. Only thing left in the world is that I would like to see is same Co-Op concept for Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest.

A fun hack for zelda 2 fansDinghusShminghus2021-01-04Version 1.1

I've been playing this hack with my friend and its real fun, a little challenging in new ways but entertaining nonetheless. We noticed an issue though which we don't know if its emulator specific but the "water of life" or the "medicine" item used to get the fairy spell didn't appear. So we weren't able to progress to palace 3. We were using the mesen emulator in case its just a mesen thing. Another cave east of the second palace I believe had a point bag in it but it also wasn't there.

Amazing work! Ok name... I guess!NesDraug2020-07-16Version 1.1

This is amazing. I've always wanted to play this game as a two player. Laggy at times, but good stuff. It actually makes it a bit easier. The only thing that could be better is if it was Zelda 1.

I've added this to my list of multiplayer hacks: https://www.romhacking.net/forum/index.php?topic=27495.0
