Hack description

Phantasy Star CSI (characters sprites improved), is a small hack that changes the sprites of the main characters (especially Alys and Odin), for new ones in the Phantasy Star 2 style. The modifications were based on the characters concept arts in multimedia. This hack is compatible with other hacks on this site.

Now includes a patch for the Japanese version of the game that is 100% hack compatible with the excellent SMS Power! Retranslation patch found in this site.

NOTE: To work properly with the Retranslation patch, players should choose to leave Alisa's hair as "black" in Retranslation's option menu.

New Version 1.2 improvements:

- Changes weapons position of Alys and Odin
- New improvements to lutz sprites
- Compatible with most Phantasy Star hacks

It doesn't matter if you are going to play PS1 for the first time or if you have already played several times (in my case 50+), this hack is TOTALLY necessary. It brings new life to the four adventurers by replacing the original sprites with much superior ones. That being said, I believe that in the near future the author will make some more improvements. There is still room for more. :D Extremely recommended.

Love it. It's like a missing piece of the puzzle. The new sprites are far superior, and when used alongside the SMS Power ROM hack, it's like a fresh coat of paint all around. If you use this, just take note: you have to set Alisa's hair to black in the main menu for this to work. She will have brown hair in game, so no worries.

This one really brings the flat, boring looking sprites to life and is totally recommended. I'd like to request that the author makes a version of this for the Japanese game too, though, so it can be used with the excellent SMS Power retranslation/tweaks patch, then it would be perfect. Edit: Now there's a version of this great patch that is compatible with the SMS Power's v2.0 retranslation, so apply the appropriate version of this patch to get the absolute version of PS1 possible!
