Absolutely greatLigeia2022-09-25Version 1.0b

Terrific job on making SMB better looking. The new Mario sprite is really great, so much better than the original. I especially like the new Super Mario standing pose, it's really hard to pull this off and the result is brilliant. This is an official-looking enhancement, just like SMW Redrawn is for Super Mario World, and it should probably be your go-to version of the game from now on, unless you're a purist and absolutely need the original graphics.

I'd also like to stress how the new sprite work here has a perfect balance between updating the look of the game while still respecting the original. It's better but it still looks and feel like SMB, unlike all the SMB hacks out there that use SMB3 graphics.

The one minor improvement that could still be made is updating Bowser's sprite as well.

What a great idea, putting a fresh coat of paint on the classic game for its 35th anniversary. Version 1.0a was a bit of a mixed bag, but the author has listened to community feedback, and has made significant improvements with 1.0b. The standout parts of this hack are the sprites for Mario (are those Converse she's/he's rocking?!) and the Koopa Troopa. Long and short, this hack looks great.

Wow, for a moment i thought i was playing an 8-bit version of New Super Mario Bros, seriously, everything here is very spectacular. Mario apart from his appearance, they also gave him more expressions on his face than the original contains, the enemies also received their treatment they deserve (although not all), the visual changes at all levels are very nice. A completely successful renovation in my opinion.

Now that they have described that they will make updates, i take this opportunity to give you some suggestions:

  • Mario is perfectly resprited, the only thing i would point out here is a very small detail, and it is that although he frowns his eyebrows while jumping, he could also do it when he throws fireballs as he does in most of his conceptual arts.
  • The Goombas look good in terms of their faces, but I think their silhouette needs a little more work, it is very simple to the point that they look like those of Super Mario 64, which does not work here in my opinion.
  • Cheep Cheeps didn't need yellow rimmed their eyes to make them stand out, they are completely googly eyed and by doing that it gives the impression that they are wearing aquatic glasses like Pleasy's, players are not to be confused with that.
  • I don't think there is a need to mention it here, but, Bowser is the most important enemy in the game, he also needs an improvement in his image, even if it is a little.
  • As for peach, it only remains to fix her hair shape so that she does not give that impression that Bowsette is actually.

That's all, I hope these suggestions will help you for your next update, for my part, I am going to start preparing the materials to reproduce it physically when it is finished. :)
