I wanted to give this a try out of curiosity, and I was immediately struck by just how much this changes the way you play. Immediately you'll realize how dependant you are on tapping jump and firing shots while airborne... nope, now you have to hold jump to get any height while still trying to shoot. It's kind of a pain, but then you start to realize how much easier it is to line shots up with targets just above your plane. It's kind of amazing how this one small change completely changes the way the game is played and yet still feels balanced with its own pros and cons. If you're a Contra veteran, you've gotta at least try this... I doubt it'll be anyone's preferred way to play, but it really does make for a whole different experience.
