Complete Super Mario 64 romhacks really shouldn't have been possible when this was released, given that no level-editing tools existed yet, but this defied all odds and was completed anyway. The levels may look primitive by today's standards, maybe even like something a child made in Roblox, but you have to remember that these levels were made using assembly. No, not programmed into the game with assembly, but literally modeled in assembly as there was no other way to modify them. Most people can't even make a simple gameplay change in assembly, let alone model in it. It's hard to even fathom what programming genius it took to make this mod. The immense amount of custom code makes up for the primitive modeling to create great gameplay anyway. The original song mentioned in the description is excellent and the non-original songs are mostly great too as they mesh well with the Super Mario 64 soundfont. Except the song in that underground maze, which just sounds like an awful remix of a Bowser song. This mod may be short compared to later mods like Super Mario 74 or Super Mario Star Road, but it isn't very short or anything. At least, it's longer than most "mini hacks" of Super Mario 64. Overall, I recommend this mod to anyone for its unique design process, and how it managed to be great despite seemingly impossible limitations. 9/10 Stars - Minor lack of polish.

A mario 64 Hack! Best one! This hack let's you enjoy a 10 new levels, with both Mario and Luigi, new enemies, lots of NPC's and Final Boss changed! Now,on the details: You can choose to play as Mario or Luigi. Luigi model is really nice done. Unfortunately, I didn't spot any differences between Mario and Luigi. Too bad-Luigi should be jumping higher... "Super Mario 64: The Missing Stars" introduces you to new gameplay mechanics: You can get transformed into Fire Mario for example. In some levels you need to find some small stars and collect them to form a normal sized star. The really enjoyable thing is a Day-Night cycle. It can change happy stage into a dark and creepy stage in blink of eye! Hacks, of course feed your eyes with some new textures, but there's not much of it here. Too bad. The really good thing about hack is that it has custom music! You can hear Butter building from Kirby,or Boss theme from Zelda! That rocks, man! On the bad side... WHY are there only 38 stars? OK, OK I know it's hard to make new levels, but still... The game is a little short-No, it's not like it's short itself, but you want more, and you can get disappointed. Pluses:

| Great Way To Kill Time | wildgoosespeeder | 2010-10-22 | - |
This ROM hack is a great way to kill time. Also it is a great new way to play Super Mario 64 with various new additions to the game engine like Fire Mario and collect 20 star pieces to get a Power Star. The music is great for ports/originals/imports. My only complaint is only 38 Power Stars to collect? I did read the ReadMe and it said this was such a long and tedious process but it would be nice if the ROM hacker would create and add more levels to hopefully get to the 120 mark of the original Super Mario 64 with each new release but I doubt that they will come back to the project.
