| Restoring the face to the Epic! | Prince Valmont | 2024-05-15 | Version 1.1 |
First off, AMAZING JOB! The logo looks so much better than the old Dragon Warrior. The purple was honestly the best choice, and it really restores the soul of the game just by the logo alone. Second, I saw the note regarding the glitched name in the Dragonlord fight, and I think I may have found another area where text becomes affected. The base patch seems to be fine, but when I try to use your Title Screen patch with the "Dragon Quest: Delocalized" patch, It seems to jumble one variation of the word "attacked". Whenever I enter any battle and make an attack, it will display the following: "Command? (player) a'tacked! The attack failed and did no damage. The (enemy) attacked! (player) took (#) points of damage." So it seems that only the player's instance of the word "attacked" is replaced with "a'tacked". That's the only glitch I've seen. None of the other texts seems to be affected.
| Amazingly Invokes Atmosphere of Japanese Original | iridium_ionizer | 2021-01-01 | Version 1.0 |
This new titlescreen is amazing! It totally invokes the essence of the Japanese version of Dragon Quest (with its lighter dialogue and cartoony illustrations in the manual by Akira Toriyama) that we didn't quite get in North America with the release of Dragon Warrior. This titlescreen hack works flawlessly as a replacement for the somewhat bland greyish original (complete with sword flash). It can be paired with the separate Delocalized hack (even though this utilizes the PRG 1, aka Rev A, while Delocalized uses PRG 0). The pairing only glitched some of the weapon shop text (which can easily be fixed). Unfortunately, even by itself this titlescreen hack has one side effect, which is that it garbles the battle menu but only for the final form of the final boss. I had to blind play through it (which wasn't difficult). I suppose you could roleplay this as a evil enchantment. It would be great if this could be remedied, but it is still very playable and adds to the atmosphere.
