Hack description

Pokemon Argentum aims to allow players to Catch Em All with one copy of the game, in addition to allowing all TMs to be repurchasable. It also rebalances and changes most Gym Leaders, and in particular ups the difficulty of the Kanto Gyms to match the fact they come After fighting the Champion.

The ability to repurchase TMs comes at the price of dropping Mail and Temporary Stat Boosters. In addition, Items such as Ethers and Elixirs can be purchased in certain shops as well.

I don't recommend itshiny-kuki2024-01-18Version 1.0

You might be thinking of giving this a go because Silver was the version you had and you want something familiar but fresh without the frustration that 2nd gen had. And you want to get all the Pokemon.

But frankly, and with no offense intended at the creator (since I have no clue how hard it is to make these hacks) there are better romhacks of GSC. This hack doesn't change the game much, it's still Silver with a couple of tinkerings. And I point people towards better hacks because playing through one of these games is a long endeavor so at least you should play the best one you can find.

For one thing, yes, this game adds several Pokemon that were uncatchable before in Silver. But, bizarrely, outside of Mantine which I found in spades, I rarely saw these Gold-exclusive Pokemon. In fact I never found a Growlithe or a Gligar. And I tried. To the point that I began to think that maybe the creator didn't do the hack properly or there was something wrong with my rom. Because I was in the areas the txt file points to to find them. On top of that there are catchable starters, they are hard to find though. I only found 3 of the 6, and it was late in the game where I'd have to grind to make them useful. Furthermore I couldn't get any new legendaries through the course of the whole game. I looked up how to get Celebi and was able to do it, but frankly it was a bit underwhelming. In many ways this felt like I was just playing Silver with a few extras.

Furthermore you can buy Masterballs for $2500 in this game once you reach a certain point. I don't know what the idea was there, but I don't think that was a good choice.

To close it off on the positive side, I like the increased shiny rate, and the Pokemon that evolve by trade now work fine just through level or evolution stone. But still, even if you're someone who grew up with Silver, Crystal still gives you the Silver experience plenty and the romhacks for Crystal like Crystal-251 or Crystal Legacy are much more in-depth
