Hack description

Removes the speed penalty while jumping/falling; jump/fall horizontal speed is now the same as that of walking and hovering. Makes the game faster-paced and feel more like the Game Boy port.

Does make the game easier, notably it relies less on pixel-perfect jumps, again making it more similar to the Game Boy games which are more forgiving in this regard.

Firebrand: Smooth MovesSupergamerguy2021-11-12Version 1.0

I'm not sure why this wasn't implemented in Gargoyle's Quest 2 originally, because the game feels really solid to play with this hack. Firebrand moves much more fluidly than he did in the vanilla game, which makes platforming and avoiding attacks much easier. It also speeds up the game a bit, which is the cherry on top of this hidden gem of a game. Definitely use this hack for the best experience playing Gargoyle's Quest II.

Reduced Sluggishnessiridium_ionizer2020-12-12Version 1.0

I tried this hack out on beginning and later levels. It is a subtle difference, but it slightly reduces the sluggishness when hovering. Just so you know (if you don't read the manual), tap A to jump, then tap A again to start hovering (which drains your hover meter), then tap A to stop hovering.

How much of a difference does this make? Enough that some people may find the game much more enjoyable. It made navigating the lava bridges on the end levels easier because catching up with the floating platforms was that much faster.
