Can't get it to workWolf_Link2024-05-18Version 1.1

Castlevania games imo go from challenging fun to just plain frustrating when you only have one direction to whip in and the enemy attack patterns for many enemies is a swoop or they are taller than you and their vulnerable spot is above you. Diagonal whip mods are absolutely the difference maker in Castlevania games that only allow you to whip straight for making the game go from "BS! Cheap death!" to "I could have got that if I played better!"

So I fully support the premise of this mod but upon patching multiple different USA roms with this patch I could not get a single one of them to whip diagonally from the ground one time and I tried all different movement combos and motions.

Good with One little OddityWizdaddy7142022-08-09Version 1.0

The diagonal function works at levels 1,2, and 3 (Leather, Chain, Chain Extended), but at level 4 (Fire/Holy), he doesn't whip up at an a 45 degree angle like he does jumping forward and attacking simultaneously.

John whips above his head in a straight line, so you can hit a few things that you normally couldn't reach, which is nice, but guessing it's not intentional.

Also, not sure if this is in the base game, but I got hit by the first skeledragon before the first boss, and maintained the blue ball powerup despite having the level 3 whip.

Other than that, it's a nice hack although I'd fix the level 4 diagonal whip if possible.

Great Job!

Wow! Thanks for doing this. Awesome update! If only the same could be possible for Dracula X on the SNES.
