| A Natural Choice for Colorization | Zetawilk | 2022-01-17 | Version 1.1 |
Kirby's Pinball Land is a fantastic choice for colorizing. Kirby's world is colorful, and so are pinball games, so it's a natural draw to make this game pop with a visual buffet. This mod does a great job at not assaulting the senses with clashing color, and there are only a few hiccups. For one, the hub area was washed in dark greens, making the scenery difficult to distinguish. The Kracko and Poppy Bros. levels were rather similar in terms of color, and both used very faint colors for the walls that were almost indistinguishable from one another. I also encountered an issue during the final boss. While fighting King Dedede, I received the "500,000 Points" cut scene. After this played, Dedede, and any object sharing his palette such as the mushroom-hatted Cappy, turned completely black. None of this is particularly game-breaking, and the game is for the most part still very pretty to look at. Seeing these colorization hacks always makes me wish there was some way I could add color to the old Gameboy games that interest me myself. Overall, I say this is a great job, and I'd love to see more.
| Makes this game finally worth playing | Supergamerguy | 2022-01-17 | Version 1.1 |
I think it's a safe bet to say that Kirby's Pinball Land is a product of its era. Pinball machines, and their video game successors, were still relatively popular, and Kirby was an up-and-coming video game franchise, especially with Gameboy owners. It just made sense to combine the two, given Kirby's cute, round nature. And the base game provides a lot of fun! While short, the game has engaging "levels" (tables) with charming gimmicks and music. However, it suffers a lot in modern times due to its glaring lack of visual distinction, as the monochrome color scheme does little to evoke the love for the more colorful Kirby series that would come later. That's where this hack comes in, bringing the much-needed breath of fresh air into a dated hidden gem. I would like to congratulate the author for making such a great looking colorization, as it harkens back to both the Kirby's Dreamland subseries and Kirby's Adventure. The tables now have a distinct environmental theme, and the enemies and bosses look great in their accurate color palettes. The only complaint I have is with the title screen, which I think could have used a lot more pink and green rather than the shades of blue it mostly relies on. Regardless, this is an easy recommendation for me, for both pinball and Kirby fans alike. P.S. - I did notice a bug through my playthroughs that turned King Dedede's sprite completely black, as if he were a shadow instead. It happened in the "lightning" phase of the final boss and the credits sequence on my first playthrough, and it happened only in the credits on my second playthrough.
| Absolutely amazing!! Colors pop | atpstudios | 2022-01-14 | Version 1.1 |
Yet again thank you for your hard work in bringing these old Gameboy games to life! There's just something about taking certain green tinted GB games and adding color to them especially when it's games like Kirby where you expect them to be colorful. Now since I have been playing on my real Gameboy Color all these color hacks are looking really amazing, I don't know how you guys do it but thank you so much!
| Finally a colorized version of this gem ! | Ligeia | 2022-01-14 | Version 1.1 |
I'm really happy someone took the time to colorize this game, which is one of my favourites on the GB. As far as I can tell it works perfectly fine. However I think there's improvement to be made on the color palette choices. The colors are often too bright and often clash. Look at the "ranking" screenshot for example. I would have made Kirby a bit paler as well. But nonetheless it's great this hack exists and it's gonna be my go-to version of the game from now on. Give it a try and see for yourself !

The colors feel right, fitting to the stages and creatures, and there hasn't been one instance that seemed glitchy. This is the colorizing this game deserved a long, long time ago.
