Hack description

This is a collection of two patches for the US release of Circle of the Moon. One of them gives Nathan the Dash Boots right from the start of the game, the other makes him always dash. Combined, they allow the player to dash always, right from the start, making the game significantly faster and less obnoxious.

Check the Readme for installation instructions and other information.

Nathan is now a Super fast Card CaptorAxl Hunter2023-12-18Version 1.0

I admit that I still prefer to play the original game but it is still highly recommended if you were like when you went to play Circle of The Moon for the first time, you abandoned it before even getting the DashBoots thinking that the Character was too slow, this hack is for you, my only The complaint is that the DashBoots item ends up becoming useless, it could have been exchanged for something else, such as a DSS Card or something like that, other than that, good hack.

A teensy bit less than perfect, but still wholefully recommended.chdgs2022-08-19Version 1.0

Nice to finally see a hack for this. I've previously been accomplishing this using cheat codes (3200009C 0000). This is useful for whenever a cheat device/function is not available.

However I find that the hack is not perfect:

About 3% of the time, whenever I initiate a jump while turning and whipping at the same time, and it will perform a regular walking-speed jump instead of a dashing jump.

But I believe there is a good reason for this:

The Always Run cheat code (3200009C 0000) made it possible to repeatedly perform a Wall Jump on a single side, which allowed you to access items and areas early (before the High Jump ability). This hack is coded in such a way that it rightfully does NOT allow it by returning you to normal movement speed after a Wall Jump (thereby removing the temptation to break sequence via external cheating).

That being said, this hack (or the cheat code) saves you a massive amount of tiresome double-tapping. It also makes platforming, dodging, and mid-air attacking much better (because normally changing direction mid-air returns you to normal movement speed).

Definitely a must-have for this game that fixes what is IMO its biggest gameplay flaw. The non-dashing movement speed is painfully slow, and there is no reason NOT to dash once you gain the ability near the very start.

I couldn't imagine playing the original version after using this hack. This makes the game so much more fluid, removing any annoyance that comes with double-tapping constantly to run. This not only makes the game more fun, but significantly reduces any unnecessary slog or slow backtracking time. Combined with the Card Mode hack, this hack creates the ultimate version of Circle of the Moon, one that trumps the original game in every way.

...this game got the patch it needed. Combined with Card Mode Patch THIS is the definitive Circle of The Moon experience. Of course this patch will need a little upgrade since one Card Combo requires you to walk but it's a small price to pay for the amazing ability to play this game with the right pace.

Good with some minor caveatsthanksgoogle2021-09-29Version 1.0

The PermanentDash.ips file seems to give you both the Dash Boots from the beginning of the game, and the ability to run without double tapping forward, while the AutoRun.ips only gives you the Dash Boots from the beginning, making it redundant. I would have preferred a patch that doesn't give you the boots at the beginning but still allows you to run without double tapping once you do get them.

Aside from this and the lack of a method to walk normally as JustSearchingForGoodHacks's review said, it does what it says and is a great improvement to the game.

THIS IS WHAT COTM NEEDS!!!Oppai_Daisuki82021-09-27Version 1.0

NICE SIR!! for this patch!!....i have tested on EUR COTM and it also works....i dont know what konami was thinking why they didnt do a RUN animation for Nathan...instead they give him only walking which is block buster at the start of the game...for the players who have the EUR version its also compatible...though im only at the start of the game "FIRST CORRIDORS" i hope there are no issues... Thanks SIR!!!...
