USAHack description
I will put this right up top: the most common dump of the Japanese version of this game has a bad checksum. All there is to do if your patch fails to apply, is to use this tool to fix checksum in the rom before applying your patch:Screenshots

| Well done but... | Jack_Vincent13 | 2021-11-04 | Version 1.2 |
Wow, this is outstanding, and so appropriate for the season. And I just tested this and applied BillyTime! Games SRAM over this with no issues what so ever. Well done. I will say I honestly think the red could be just a bit darker though. Cheers
| A minor change, but a welcome one | Supergamerguy | 2021-10-30 | Version 1.2 |
I don't really have much to say about this hack, other than mentioning how much better it is with real blood than green goo/acid. I'm not even a big "gore" fan, but the red blood really completes the atmosphere and makes you feel like you're actually putting a dent into those monsters. As I'm sure many, many other people have said: "This is how it should have looked in the first place if Sega hadn't censored it" (or something to that effect).
| I like it. | TenZero | 2021-10-10 | Version 1.2 |
Its the little things sometimes that make a big difference. Having the blood actually be red is great. A good excuse to play the game again if nothing else. Thanks for this.
| Color hack welcome | Ellouco | 2021-10-10 | Version 1.0 |
Fantastic work. A seemingly simple detail that brought a much more interesting look to the game. We now have blood, something that was censored at the time the game was released. We hope that you will bring this improvement to Splatterhouse 2 and also think about the possibility of being compatible with the Japanese version of the game, which is the most complete version in terms of history. I recommend this color hack to everyone who, like me, appreciates this nostalgic franchise.
| Rick Taylor had an hard day again! | Algunar | 2021-10-06 | Version 1.2 |
An excellent work and much appreciated efforts from this author's patches! This really makes the game much more appealing (even if "appealing" might probably not be the first word you would think of about Splatterhouse series) and brings so much more coherence with the gore environments and atmosphere of Splatterhouse. Splatterhouse 3 was already a rather obscure Genesis true gem, it just goes bettter than ever now with this Bloody Edition! Now that choice is given to anyone to select which Bloody Edition (s)he wants to play between US and Japanese version, everyone should hopefully be happy. This being settled, some people should consider twice before giving some negative criticism too quickly and before blaming anyone to have developed and provided an amazing patch for one version of a rom instead of another one, regardless the considerable time and amount of work performed. First things first, someone proposed an improvement solution for free, to begin with, and deserves therefore some respect for this, even if the first targeted rom was maybe not the best to be selected from start!
| A small change goes a looong way.. | 2spaz | 2021-10-04 | Version 1.0 |
The way it should have been.. Just GREAT The same color patch on SPH2 would be most welcome..
| Not compatible with (J) | 1HomoErectus1 | 2021-10-04 | Version 1.0 |
While red blood looks normal, I see no reason to play the American version of the Splatterhouse 3 with all its questionable gameplay changes. The hack is not compatible with the Japanese version. When choosing between red blood and full-fledged game, I choose full-fledged game. Honestly, I always thought that this is not green blood in the original game, but some kind of green slime. Especially when the very first monsters already have red blood on their sprites in the original game, and show green slime only when they die.
