Could definitely take place in the fire emblem World Dialogue can be long And can feel like just filler such as the character talking about foods, recipes, ects. NORMAL DIFF Maybe to diffcult for average FE player which may be furstrating. Great wonderful mod , sometimes chars you get end games Perform better than your early characters even if they are promoted level 20 max.Even if it is modded Scared stones , there isnt tower to train troops making promoting which chars before lvl 20 a tough decision, overall i highly give it a play through will probaly take a weekend to beat if you use save states THE ENDING WONT DISSPOINT THANKS YIU MODDERS AND EDITORS

This hack really sets the bar for all other FE8 patches. As of this review I have about 100hrs into vision quest across a few runs. The real strength of this hack IMO is the excellent balance and gameplay. The maps are fun and well-designed. There are lots of things here and there to steal, especially once your rogues get leveled. Plenty of side objectives with worthwhile rewards. Challenging but fair enemy placements and reinforcements. I never felt like it was too easy or too hard. I played on normal mode which is like vanilla hard mode according to the notes and my experience with FE8. There are loads of new weapons, like a sword that is effective against brigands and thieves, and an axe that is effective against dark mages. They are not needed, but fun and useful on the right maps and situations. The skill system is implemented but not overdone. Every unit has a personal skill that provides them with a niche. I couldn't train all of them but everyone I used was useful and viable throughout (caveat: its FE, so getting stat screwed and blessed is a thing). I also want to shout out the music, which for me was a trip down memory lane and really added to the fun. There is a sound room that lists all the tracks, and I found myself going back there in between sessions to remember "where I heard that song before?". It keeps the gameplay fresh and adds a lot of flavor. I think FEU's forum is where most folks go for their FE8 hacks but wanted to leave a review at RHDN too because this hack deserves all the love and play time it can get. It's worth it!
| Exceptional. | Old_gamer | 2021-12-01 | Version 2.3 |
Excellent. I'll get right to it. Vision Quest has much to offer. I see from the forum on this hack that it took a good couple of years to finish and it shows. From the start the writing is superb and is throughout the mod. Has a litany of characters and are quite interesting and has decent villains. Needless to say, the writing here more than fits the style. There is of course more, added are skills like in Path Of Radiance and really make a difference. Even same class characters can get something different adding variety. Promotion items are not class specific unless the story demands it which is a relief and are enough to ensure all your characters are battle ready. The creators even give you instruction on certain battles that are a excellent touch. On map stats of every unit displaying basics and items. Talk option to either help with support or possible recruitment in the character status and on map with a little speech bubble, even some battles you may be separated, but still have the option to formation. I guess the only con is already promoted characters. Some have okay stats, but some are quite strong too. So, not really a con. Anyway, this is a long story. Keeps you engaged and will take a while to beat, but it's great all the way through. As I did point out, this did take a few years to create. There is a sequel announced and I would love one now, but I'll be more than glad to wait. This is a labor of love from Fire Emblem fans and needs to be played. Hell, add it to the Fire Emblem universe.
| An excellent Fire Emblem hack | Recca | 2021-10-13 | Version 2.3 |
Fire Emblem: Vision Quest is a hack that uses Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones (also known as Fire Emblem 8) as a base to tell an all new original story. What sets the storyline apart from most others in the Fire Emblem series is that the main character is not a prince or any other type of royalty or member of nobility. Instead, the main character is a simple rural farmer named Storch, who along with his childhood friends must raise money by any means necessary to support their families and in order to pay the harsh taxes imposed on them by the corrupt ruling class of their country. And as can be expected, the heroes later on find themselves engaged in something much more complicated and grand. They later end up caught in both war and politics and must fight for not only the future of their village, but that of the entire continent. Besides an all new and original storyline, this hack also features custom graphics, modified unit classes, new music used from other games and re-balanced gameplay. This is yet another great Fire Emblem hack that is a must play for all fans of the series and of the three GBA games in particular. It definitely ranks somewhere at the top of the greatest Fire Emblem hacks ever made so far, along with The Last Promise, The Road to Ruin, Order of the Crimson Arm and Dark Lord and The Maiden of Light. It's also a fairly long hack with a lot of well designed maps, characters and interesting plot elements and twists to it. So if you're a fan of this series, be sure to give Fire Emblem: Vision Quest a try. It's without a doubt, one of the best hacks ever made and released so far.
