Hack description

I've been a fan of Super Mario Kart since I first played it in the early/mid nineties. Late last year I
happened upon a romhack called Super Mario Kart: Pro Edition and was very impressed at the quality (though
I was humbled by its difficulty). It inspired me to start my own hack of the tracks, with a focus on
maintaining the feel of the original game.

Every track has been replaced by one I've created completely myself, including the Battle Mode courses.
I've tried to avoid putting in overly complicated or silly courses like some hacks of this game have, but
at the same time I've snuck in a couple of new ideas.

The AI works in all courses, and offers a challenge, but is far from unbeatable.

A lot harder, but still very fun for SMK fansSupergamerguy2020-07-27Version 1.0

To sum it up, it's more Super Mario Kart! The track layout is significantly more difficult, but still enjoyable to play as long as you have the mechanics down and enjoy the original game itself. Would recommend playing this only if you're tired of doing the same tracks from SMK over and over again.

Marios racing is hardcore again...the cool guy2012-10-20-

Super Mario Kart Alternate Tracks is a hack that changes all of these SNES SMK racetracks around to new ones. And like the original this game is not the Mario racing party the series is now. There have not been any hardcore Mario Kart games since the original. Sure there is Super Circuit but that game did not really make the cut and was not quite as hardcore as the original. These racetracks are for the hardcore taking you back to the roots of the series. For the graphics, they look like they always did. Music is also the same because this hack is only about racetracks. One thing is that these stage always seems to get the amount of time between a set of coins or a jump or an item box just right. It feels very well planned and with 150 CC you better be ready. It's all planned so well. The difficulty is almost perfect. Really, I could go on and on here. For fans of the newer Mario Kart games, it is not as much fun. Because it is not designed for the party elements the series now uses, newer gamers might not have that much fun. I could go on and on but in the end SMK fans and hardcore gamers will love it. Everyone else should stay away.

As Good as Original.teddan002012-04-18-

The quality is at least as good as original maps.

Thank You!

Best SNES SMK hack?megaman_powered_down2010-11-23-

Best SNES Super Mario Kart hack that I have ever seen.

It changes tracks in a way that you would never imagine! Tracks are small, but very intense. But, this doesn't mean it becomes harder, difficulty is very well adjusted. Also item squares are really well placed on the maps.

Best track seems to be Koopa Beach. It's really...no, I won't spoil it for you, try it for yourself.

I tried, but actually I can't find any minuses...well maybe this: there's no new graphics and music...too bad!

Overall this is really hard hack to review. I don't want to spoil you, but trust me, if you decide to play it, you won't be disappointed!

Gameplay: 9.5/10

Audio: NA/10

Graphics: NA/10

Great hack !Ligeia2010-10-22-

I think this is the best SMK hack I have ever played. The tracks are short but very intense and the difficulty is very well adjusted. It is not very difficult to beat the game, but that's fine for me since I hate frustrating games. This hack really feels like a sequel to the original Super Mario Kart. It makes me feel like trying to make my own version.

A great hack!Hamlet2010-04-22-

This is a great hack. Basically it feels like a sequel to the original. The creator had a lot of great creative ideas and was successfully able to transfer them from the realm of ideas to the game itself. Just check out the new Koopa Beach at the beginning of the Star Cup. I do not want to spoil it, because I had a real blast the first time I played it. My first thought was: "Where am I supposed to go?" And my second thought was: "So I can... WOW this is awesome!"

All the new courses can be a challenge but they are not too difficult. Just as manageable as in the original.

So if you like "Super Mario Kart" and want to try a really good reimagination of this fantastic game, try this hack, I'm pretty sure You won't be disappointed!
