Hack description

All Pokémon backsprites have been redrawn to be twice as big (56x56), so they won't need to be zoomed.

Sprites have retained their original design choices and quirks, but shading has been redone for most of them.

There are 4 files included. Since gen 1 backsprites are based on japanese (Red and Green) sprites, there are patches to allow for those sprites to be used for both Internation Red and Blue.

blue-int-sprites.bps: uses International Red and Blue front sprites.

blue-jap-sprites.bps: uses Japanese Red and Green front sprites.

red-int-sprites.bps: uses International Red and Blue front sprites.

red-jap-sprites.bps: uses Japanese Red and Green front sprites.

Special thanks to 33danye. This hack uses their sprite uncompression routine, so bigger sprites are possible.

The new back sprites look nice, indeed. Good work! But this hack is, in the end, WORTHLESS as it does NOT work with Drenn's Full Color hack, and it is inconceivable to play Red/Blue without it. If this matter was resolved, this hack would be PERFECT!

This mod is great at making the back sprites accurate to the front sprites. The only problem I faced was the inability to work with mods (I tried to combine the patches with the Pokemon Red, Green, and Blue Versions - 100% English patches, but it either resulted in the patcher saying that it's incompatible with the ROM or garbled graphics when first starting up the game after bypassing the Game Boy/Super/Color/Advance bootup screen). Despite this shortcoming, it does work well, but only on the unpatched games. Here's hoping a similar hack for Yellow is made.
