| AMAZING! Really amazing | diablo666 | 2021-11-14 | Version 1.0 |
I am as knowledgeable about the game... I moved away from the hack as far as possible, because - really, nothing could hook me in THEM. For, it is itself as. But not the point, the main thing is that this hack caught up again and I STILL tried it. And... I liked him. Really liked it. Good Level Design, Well done graphically, musically pleasing to the ears. Honestly, I'm glad that I tried it out and I don't regret it a bit... (even though "John the Cat" advised me to do it) Honestly, I don't know much about the Beatles, but I think we could withstand the atmosphere of this group. And, as I can't deny - IT can be recommended!
| One of the best Mario hacks ever made, and a truly loving tribute to the Beatles | Supergamerguy | 2021-11-07 | Version 1.0 |
It's hard to describe just how much love and appreciation was put in this hack, as it oozes out of every pore and crevasse of this game. From the character and enemy designs, to the level aesthetics, to the music, and so much more, this hack is the perfect tribute to the Beatles and their legacy. And on top of all that, this game is just fun to play. The new level design is both unique and challenging, but it never felt unfair or poorly lain out. The 8-bit Beatles' song renditions are a treat to listen to while playing as well, with my favorite song being the 8-bit version of Hey Bulldog. At the end of my playthrough, I knew (without a doubt) that I could recommend this hack to everyone, both Beatles fans and casual gamers alike.
| Finally A Super Mario Bros 2 (US) hack about a band that's good | hdofu | 2021-11-05 | Version 1.0 |
Contrary to what many might believe this isn't the first ROM hack of Super Mario Bros 2 (No I'm not referring to how it began life as Doki Doki Panic), it isn't even the first time it was Super Mario Bros 2 getting made into a game about a Band, that goes back to at least 16 years to Wicked Clown Brothers 2, a game about the Insane Clown Posse... It begins with a new level and a lot of new enemy sprites. That said after the first level it stopped being different, also there was no music that connected to the group. Adventure in Pepperland however is not like this. It starts with new levels, new object behavior and stages, and trippy as the movie.. The music sounds like chiptunes Beatles. The stages are secret rich and full of plenty of areas to explore. If you want a new game based on the Super Mario 2 engine this is a great choice.
| The best Super Mario Bros 2 hack (USA) I have ever played | YoshiWhite62 | 2021-11-05 | Version 1.0 |
Without a doubt a great hack that at first I thought it would be just a change of sprites of the characters as it happens with other hacks. Fortunately it was not like that and it is a great effort. I really liked this hack that shows that there was a lot of effort to develop it. I recommend it for any lover of the Beatles. Give this game a try.
| A fantastic hack with a few minor issues | PsxFan107 | 2021-11-04 | Version 1.0 |
Please forgive me for sounding a bit out of touch throughout this review because I, unfortunately, have not see the animated film the hack was based on nor am I completely familiar with the songs in the soundtrack. This hack is the complete package: new levels, new graphics, and a fantastic new soundtrack. I was very excited for this hack when it was in development (namely because it looked so damn cool) and boy did it deliver. It was super exciting to immediately start a completely fresh new level, with new graphics and the awesome new Beatles soundtrack. I really loved how well the soundtrack fit in with the levels. Each level had a track that fit with the vibe it gave off. The levels were a bit tough but generally well balanced in terms of difficulty save for at least one (which I'll get to later). The extra starting lives and continues as well as the plentiful extra hit points and lives made for a nice buffer to the hack's added challenge. Also, the credits sequence was freaking amazing! With all the praise in order, I now move on to my few (very few at that) issues with this hack. The first is the yellow submarine in 1-2. It is comprised of multiple platforms which one can unknowingly pass through and die because it is almost impossible to tell where they start and end. Embarrassingly enough, this happened to me once or twice when I first discovered this. This could be remediated by either outlining the platforms or adding solid blocks to prevent the player from falling through them. The second was a crash that occurred in 5-3. I threw either a bomb or exploding enemy (can't remember which) between some explode-able blocks and had the game crash followed by a CPU halt error from Nestopia UE. I know this is not an emulator specific issue as its core is in active development and is up to date as of August of this year. Thank god I save stated at the start of world 5 or I probably would have dropped this hack for a while. Now, my third and final issue, and this is the biggest problem I had with this hack. When I played the first bit of 6-1, I noticed it seemed a bit familiar. As I played further into the level, my hunch was confirmed. This level is an amalgamation, modification and dumbing down of levels 2-1 and 3-2 of GlitchCat7's SMB2 hack Return to Subcon. For those who don't know, Return to Subcon is a kaizo (highest degree) difficulty hack. That hack had a per level save system because its levels are too brutal for the standard continue system. This hack being based on plain SMB2 and having a non-kaizo difficulty had no business having a kazio level in it. The excuse here was that the level was at the start of the world instead of later on so the player couldn't wall on world 6 because of it. The worst offence here is that GlitchCat7 is given no credit for his work. I was disappointed to see the hack's originality sacrificed here in favor of an artificial difficulty spike. Even with the modifications made, the level was still frustrating and not very enjoyable. I kept getting stranded on the platform with the key and having to die and restart the area. As a result of these deaths, I ended up clutching the final boss with a single life left. It would be nice if this level could be replaced in a future patch with an original level that fit properly with the hack's design and difficulty. Overall, for those who loved the original SMB2 and those who are fans of the Beatles should definitely pick this one up. Despite the small number of problems it has, it is truly one of the best SMB2 hacks to date.
| The best. | pipoquette700 | 2021-11-04 | Version 1.0 |
I've never seen a hack using elements from The Beatles band, but when I saw it, I was surprised about this hack because of the elements and stuff related to the Beatles band.
