I have loved the original Robocop arcade game since it first came out, but I do find it to be an 80's arcade quarter-muncher and also find it odd that Robocop jumps around so gracefully. The NES game has the heavy physics you'd expect from Robocop, and now has the visual and story appeal with this hack. The movie-accurate heaviness of the character is reflected well in the NES version. And no more flappy mouth!

Be advised that the hack creator SomeOldGuy actually posted a newer version of this hack with some fixes. It is not on this hack page, but just Google "NES RoboCop with Arcade sprites" and you will find the Romhacking forum where he posted it. The newer version is posted at that forum on October 29, 2022 by the same creator.

Woah, now, that was unexpected. Downloaded the hack, expecting to have the main character sprites swapped by one resembling the arcade counterpart, but I was so wrong! The game was totally revamped, all characters, background, everything was remade to look like the arcade, and it's amazing! I'll keep both ROMs in this case, the original, and Texas Edition (usually, I apply the hacks I want and delete the vanilla version of the game, but not this one).

Highly recommended.

And here it is: After months of waiting, here we have Robocop with Arcade sprites (or as its author has finally named it "Texas Edition").

My opinion about this hack? That the wait was worth it. The work done on the scenery and sprites is superb and raises the graphic standard of the game to levels that, based on cleverness and work, sometimes look like an early game of the 16-bit era.

My only complaints about the project are really minor, quite subjective and as I already expressed them in the project thread (like the Robocop-Dancing when the character crosses doors or his "sensual" pouting when he talks) and the author has decided to ignore them, I understand it's because that's his vision of the project and if so, I'm all for it.

So there is only one thing left to do: Thank SomeOldGuy for his great contribution and enjoy it.

This is an amazing hack! Which makes the original game way better with nice graphics. Also, you forgot to add the part about this hack COMPLETELY removing the timer bar! Yes! The unfair and completely not needed timer is finally gone! Thank you very much!

Absolutely impressive hack. Really manages to capture the essence of the Arcade.

It would be awesome to have it for the other regions, but I think that's asking too much.
