Hack description

A patch to double the walking speed of your party in Phantasy Star III, thus bringing it in line with Phantasy Star IV (And basically any 2D JRPG released in the last 25 to 30 years.). Given that the game has lots of walking from place to place with a dash of backtracking, and not a lot of ways to circumvent that for anywhere between 60 and 80% of the game depending on the path you take, the increased walking speed makes the game much less tedious in the author's opinion!

A buggy, but functional Patch.ArhumMK2023-04-23Version 1.0

It does as it says, doubling your walk speed. But it comes at the cost of causing some cutscene bugs which take the control away from the player, they walk faster than intended and this can cause some issues. One instance is when you first meet Maia, Rhys walks into the room below, then back up and then walks too far ahead of Maia instead of walking together as a pair when they're about to get married. The cutscene ends as usual but it does not play out as intended. You can resume normal gameplay afterwards.

Cannot really recommend this in its current state. My only suggestion to the author is that instead of globally doubling the player walk speed. An implementation similar to the Phantasy Star Collection on PS2 would be better. Where holding a button makes you move at double speed instead of all times. This would not break some of the cutscenes like the Maia and the Shuttle one.

Works as advertisedzstandig2022-11-20Version 1.0

The patch works as advertised. Walking speed is increased to a much more reasonable pace.

Thank you for making it
