| This should have been the real FF2 | Jetman | 2023-01-25 | Version 1.0 |
I loved this hack. It makes the game closer to the first one and you can even feel scammed when you wonder why Capcom didn't do this at its time. The reason must be the flickering you get when there are so many sprites on screen, which is weird to see in a SNES game, but in this case it is irrelevant and doesn't affect the gameplay at all. This hack is more challenging and interesting now, although the difficulty may be the same as before if you are an experienced player.
| Good hack, but it's missing something | E.Signal | 2022-04-15 | Version 1.2 |
I like the fact that there's more enemies on screen as this makes the game more challenging than the regular FF2, but the problem is that the enemies still take forever to defeat since they have so much HP and since there's more enemies to deal with now, this slows the game's pacing down even more. The problem could be fixed if all 3 characters got damage buffs or if that's not possible, maybe the enemy's HP could be lowered.
| Removed the Monotony, Added the Cheapness | Paolo | 2022-03-29 | Version 1.0 |
5 Enemies on screen helped perfectly, and for me, removed completely the biggest flaw of the game: Monotony! The action feels very fast unlike the original which felt very slow. But, this added a big flaw: Game is now very cheap. You have NO invincibility when you get knocked down, and this is a big problem with 5 enemies, because they will get very close to you, so if you get caught by them, you will get hurt no-stop with no escape over and over until you die, and if you are able to escape, they already made your life bar almost gone. A 3 second invincibility would definitely help. I will still give a "yes", because it removed the monotony, and i prefer having a cheap game than a boring game.
| WTF Capcom!? You were holding out on us!!! | BulkSlash | 2022-03-21 | Version 1.0 |
All these years, the SNES Final Fight games have been criticised for only having three enemies on screen at once, yet now we know, they could have given us five! Admittedly there's a bit of sprite flicker when they all line up and overlap, but it's not a big issue. I believe the Mega-CD version only had 4 enemies on-screen simultaneously too, so this is very impressive. The only thing I'd like to see is compatibility with the uncensored Japanese version, as that's my preferred version of the game. Other than that, this is incredible. I really hope we get to see this magic applied to Final Fight 1 and 3 as well!
