Hack description

This small hack restores the unused alternate invincibility tune, later heard in Sonic Advance 2 & 3. In the original game, Sonic 1's invincibility tune was used instead.

Wonderful Consistency Fix!cornholio3092022-10-23Version 1.0

Had no idea this hack existed, but it's something I really appreciate.

As the hack description states, the Game Boy Advance release of Sonic Advance 1 uses a cover of the Invincibility Theme from the original Sonic the Hedgehog by Masato Nakamura. The later Android release replaced this with the invincibility theme from the later Advance entries, presumably to avoid having to pay royalties to Nakamura (as the Sonic 1 and 2 Boss Themes used in the X-Zone were also removed from said Android port).

While I enjoy that song in the original game and feel it serves it's purpose, it's inclusion in Sonic Advance 1 was...odd. There are 2 reasons I'm not huge on it:

1. I'm really not a fan of how the song was rearranged to fit Advance 1's instrument set. I feel the lead 'trumpet'-esque instrument sample is a bit too messy and sounds kinda weird to me. It comes out sounding less 'powerful' than the original. Which is odd, as I felt the Boss Theme covers for Sonic 1 and 2 came out pretty well.

2. Again, as the hack description states, there's an unused alternative invincibility theme inside of the game. This one is arranged specifically for the Game Boy Advance's sound capabilities and would later be used in the sequels. It makes Advance 1 a bit stranger to go back to knowing that the sequels did not follow suit with similar Invincibility arrangements.

While it's not a huge game changer or a must have, I think having this if you're revisiting the trilogy (or playing for the first time) makes for a nice little 'consistency fix' when compared to the sequels. Considering that and my personal distaste for how the Sonic 1 Invincibility cover in Advance came out, I'd play with this track instead. Many thanks for making this patch!
