A pleasant adventure, thoughtfully designed for players old and newredfeatherz2023-10-13Version 1.1

A shorter hack of SMB2 that is considerably less demanding than others, whilst still offering a good challenge.

For those who haven't played SMB2 as much, you are well supported in "Trouble Sleeping". You will get plenty of lives and continues to start you off. Also, powerup mushrooms are much easier to find compared to the original game (you may quickly learn to spot Rohbert's telltale signs that indicate extra health is nearby).

For those who have played SMB2 a bit more, however, there are some nice shortcuts and secret spaces to discover, if you are familiar with speedrunning techniques. You may find a special room dedicated to the hack's playtester, if you are comfortable jumping off ladders and vines. You can even recreate the shyguy skip seen in world-record spreedruns of World 1-1,making a sizeable skip of your very own. And so on. There is plenty here to keep you coming back, beyond just the game's main path.

Speaking of the game's main path: each level is highly creative and unique. Springs and moving platforms are subtle but grand new additions to levels. The mandatory Warp Levels are especially memorable in design, and the boss fight arenas are more relaxed than usual, often with more than one strategy available to secure your victory.

All in all, this is a sleek and fun SMB2 hack that doesn't demand too much from the player, unless they seek out the extra challenges for themselves. The springs and moving platforms might catch you offguard the first few times you use them, but like anything else they will get easier to use with time. Boing!
