Final Fantasy III (USA) (Rev 1).sfc - NOINTROHack description
FINAL FANTASY III: ONCE AGAIN is a patch I've been working on for much of the year. Initially, my intentions for the patch were very humble and private, but the more I learned about the available tools, the broader my approach became, and the final result, I believe, is a more balanced game with an overall heightened challenge factor, and some more changes that fans should enjoy playing. I tried my best throughout the process to keep things close to the classic era Final Fantasy, so even though a lot is different, there's nothing here that is totally inconceivable or anachronistic to a Final Fantasy game of 1994.Screenshots

I enjoyed this hack until I got to the Imperial camp in Sabin's scenario. None of the Magitek suits could do anything except Healing Force, nor could I run from battle, so it was impossible to proceed any further. EDIT: this was an issue with the pre-patched version from fantasyanime.com. I have been informed that this problem has been fixed.

A good hack, which does not change anything with the story or characters, but tweaks the gameplay enough to make it different, yet still retain the fun of the original game. I think Plague was a bad idea, because Poison is rarely an effective element, and I liked the sound effect of Meltdown much better. Some characters have become even more unbalanced in the author's wish to emphasise their talents in their intended roles. The very high-end items are completely broken, Final Fantasy VI did not really need more of this. Anyway, I had fun playing it and I recommend it to all FFVI players and fans.
