Database match: Pokemon - Crystal Version (USA)Hack description
The goal of this ROM hack is to be the ultimate Pokemon Crystal experience for fans, a remaster of sorts: same story, same Pokemon, same world, but the game is more playable, balanced and challenging. There's extra content added too as well as many QoL improvements from music to sprite work to brand new features and battle system improvements!Screenshots

| It isn't what I was hoping for | Angel_of_Silence1213 | 2024-07-20 | Version 1.0.5 |
Honestly I like some of the changes made such as buffing bad Pokémon reusable tms the B2W2 repel system. But the fact that Set is forced for some battles & the gym leader disobedience levels are turned into hard level caps ruin the hack for me.
| In many ways, how the game should've been. | Chronosplit | 2023-10-24 | Version 1.0.5 |
This is one of the few times where a modern "damage split" is completely moot. There are times (especially in the classic version) where original porting quandies from Gen 1 to 2 are addressed. Most of these are Pokemon who got shafted by the original special split, something which arguably haunted them through the majority of the franchise (Gyarados and Flareon being major examples). Some other have had their physical and special attack swapped to actually be usable as their own type, Totodile is no longer attack-based for example. These are the most notable, nearly every mon has some Stat revision though. There are some changes that I'm not a fan of (modern steel-type resistances for example), but other than that I throughly enjoyed this.
| Not what I was hoping for. | AkiraKurusu2016 | 2023-07-11 | Version 1.0.5 |
While I do like the sound of plenty of changes - infinite-use TMs, B-button running, BW's Repel system, Move Reminder and Gen 1 move tutors, in-battle weather indicator, Hidden Power buff and checker, buffed Fishing Rods, fixed Kurt Balls and Trainer Card, etc. - there are also quite a few dealbreakers that ruin it for me. Such as changing the type chart to remove Steel's resistances to Ghost and Dark; quite a few battles forcing Set battle style (if I want Switch, it shouldn't be forcibly changed; if I wanted Set, I'd change it myself); trade evolutions evolving via unrelated Stones instead of some other method like reaching Lv. 40 or something; I don't like quite a number of the move changes, such as Bug-type Comet Punch or 1 PP 175 base power Mega Kick or Night Shade not doing user's-level damage. Not to mention making a bunch of items *more* expensive for some reason, Trainers now being able to switch Pokémon (I'd prefer it if they didn't switch, thanks; makes battles a lot more frustrating, that), the random retypings of Pokémon, the disobedience mechanic now being hard level caps for all Pokémon not just traded ones. ...If Ultimate Classic just kept the good parts, and didn't have any of the dealbreakers, I'd likely play and recommend this over Perfect Crystal. However, that's not the case, unfortunately, so I cannot recommend this hack. Way too many unnecessary changes.

Absolutely Excellent. I haven't enjoyed a Pokemon game this much Since Black 2's Challenge mode. Takes Crystal and brings it as close to the modern game's conveniences as a Gen 2 game possibly can. Outside of what's listed on this hack's page, here's everything else I noticed:
With a word like Ultimate in the title, you better deliver. This does without question.
