| A Quirky Yet Fun Hack! | gamingcat02261991 | 2024-03-20 | Version 1.10.01 |
If you like Star Fox on SNES, you'll definitely love this ROM Hack. Though, in all honesty, I was never too fond of the plot where Star Fox has to practically kill every Nintendo character that came before them. That's my only criticism (outside of Kirby not appearing as a boss in some shape or form). Beyond that, it's an excellent hack.
| If you like Star Fox you MUST try this | Adam Catalyst | 2023-06-21 | Version 1.04.3 |
I am blown away by this hack. The scope of it is incredible. It improves upon the original game immensely, then tacks on an entirely new game as well. The options available are WILD. It offers a playground for experimentation. Clearly a labour of love, it is the ultimate version of Star Fox, and it's not even close. The only, minor criticism I have, is that I wish it had the ability to play the original missions in a more vanilla manner, without the minor re-colouring of ships, etc. That's a very small minor quibble. If you like Star Fox, you must try this. Even if you are only casually interested, I guarantee it will be worth your time.
| "Amazing" is an understatement | tsubasaplayer16 | 2023-02-02 | Version 1.04.3 |
I don't think I need a long review on about this hack - this has A LOT of stuff added. As I mentioned - this hack being "Amazing" is one HELL of an understatement. Now, I'm not into Star Fox personally (though I do see the appeal), but God Mode just gives me that relaxing time when I feel like it, even to just look at the work that was put in. If you're a huge Star Fox fan, then you have got to take a look at this. Even better if you got an FXPAK Pro to run the game on OG hardware like I do.
| The star of the show | Supergamerguy | 2022-11-27 | Version 1.03 |
This is a stupendous game from a team of clearly talented developers! The amount of customization options alone is impressive and worth tinkering around with in the menu. The customization options alone are not what drew me to this hack, however. The new levels, music, and bosses are what truly shine here. These new routes feel incredibly well-designed, with all sorts of new obstacles and set pieces, sure to please even the most die-hard of original Star Fox players. The new bosses are fantastic as well, with custom portraits and attacks to match. Add in a local multiplayer mode (that supports up to *5 simultaneous players*, an already astonishing feat), AI companions, and the ability to play the original three routes to boot? This is truly the complete Star Fox package. There is no reason not to play this hack to completion, whether you've been a Star Fox fan since the first game released or just a casual retro gamer looking for a good several hours of fun.
| Star Fox Complete Edition | Overdrive | 2022-11-18 | Version 1.02 |
I haven't been this impressed with a romhack since Sonic 3 Complete! So much has been added to the game, including new levels, new bosses, and loads of customization options. Although I do have a few nitpicks:
But overall, those are very minor complaints, and this is the definitive way to play Star Fox, even surpassing the original game it's based on.
| The unofficial sequel that Star Fox deserves! | The Beaky Buccaneer | 2022-11-11 | Version 1.0 |
I love the SNES installments in the Star Fox series, and because every official release since Star Fox 64 doesn't really play the same as those and (as the humourous description of this hack's story notes) the Star Fox series has since been neglected pretty badly, I've been left wanting more games in that vein for a long time! Star Fox EX absolutely delivers. This hack is packed with a huge amount of content, from an all-new story-mode (with an excellent new soundtrack and difficulty that seems to mostly be on-par with that of the original game; There's also a very amusing endless map that can be accessed post-game), to new ways to play and explore the original title, with tons of hidden secrets and references in between. It's clearly been made by people who really know what makes the original SNES games tick, and that love and care shows throughout. Even the trailer shows the same attention-to-detail! Everything that I've played and seen in Star Fox EX so far has raised a smile, and you can tweak and discover so much that you'll be coming back to this hack a lot just to see what else there is. The Star Fox series deserves a great ROM-hack like this, and if you're a fan you owe it to yourself to check it out!
| Original SF Gameplay but more fun! | Rockman_X | 2022-11-11 | Version 1.0 |
I played the heck out of the original Star Fox. When Star Fox Two came out on the Mini SNES I was very happy but missed quite some elements from the original game. With this EX version I have a lot more fun as it's got new levels, bosses, graphics and keeps the linear gameplay that I loved! Marvelous!
| I Dig it Like a Hole to China!!! | Creature667 | 2022-11-10 | Version 1.0 |
I'll preface this by saying I'm not the biggest Starfox fan. In fact, I kinda suck at it and I only ever did play the first one on SNES. I've wanted to try the sequel on the SNES Mini for a while but there are just too many great games and hacks that have my attention first that 'm not sure I'll ever take that one off the back burner. But imagine my surprise when I saw this interesting looking jewel on this morning's newest hacks. Clearly a lot of love and work went into creating this. The original Exploration Showcase was a lot of fun if not just a point of interest hack that helps hold my interest in the original game for more than one quick, single run through the game. Without spoiling anything, the first level of SFEX does things that I didn't know the Super FX chip could do. There are a lot of cool, unique ideas here that work well (as well as some outstanding easter eggs!) and I was always compelled after every level to see what was next and uncover what secrets the game holds, including an endgame secret level that legitimately made me laugh out loud. I couldn't recommend this hack more to people who are already fans of Starfox. And to those who aren't\', maybe this will be the one that changes your mind? Download this hack now and waste your whole afternoon.
| No other hack has ever received so much love | Pelapapas | 2022-11-10 | Version 1.0 |
From the promo video to the amount of play modes, stages, additional features and customizations, this is by far one of the best hacks ever made. Seriously guys, you should start your own indie game studio, just amazing work. PS. Kindly do Zombies Ate My Neighbors next :)
| My jaw dropped, and I'm too busy playing this to pick it up! | Red Soul | 2022-11-10 | Version 1.0 |
I never played Starfox/Starwing on the SNES back in the day outside of the occasional rental. It always felt bland, slow, plodding... a technology demonstrator more than a game that didn't hold a candle to the likes of Virtua Racing on the Mega Drive playability wise. However, fans will be fans, and they've done it again! if Starfox was a technological flex for the SNES back in the day, this hack here is the culmination of fan flexing, in the best of ways. With performance optimizations galore, a myriad of options bordering from necessary to borderline unthinkable (multiplayer!), a completely new set of planets to visit while still containing the original game, and much much more, this is the definitive way to enjoy this classic that suffered from technological shortcomings that didn't allow its greatness to shine through in the past. Now, it finally can shine.
