Hack description

A full hack of Sonic the Hedgehog 1, with tons of features, brand new levels, playable characters, Sonic CD style gameplay (minus the extended camera), and more. I created this Sonic the hedgehog hack back in October 31, 2011 (Halloween), everything has been changed and feels like a completely new game.

Changes since Hyperdrive v1.0:

Improved level designs and layouts

Extreme mode added

Extra characters have been updated

More bugfixes

A few soundtracks has been changed

Improved wall jump physics

Note: Patch to clean Sonic 1 ROM (REV00, the one with no moving clouds) with ".bin" as the extension or else, it may not work. The patch is in XDelta format due to shifted data which resulted in a IPS patch with copyrighted data in it.

...and even now I'm enjoying it. The levels are graphically 6/10, but the playability is 10/10. Almost all the characters have their own techniques, which we give them an individuality. The music fits the stages, and the bosses are made creatively (although the old AI). I recommend this version for review.

Overall this is a great hack. It really overhauls the original game and the new graphics and gameplay make it feel quite different from Sonic 1. There is a healthy amount of playable characters and the new music makes the game feel fresh. Highly recommended.
