Hack description

A hack of the original Metroid to make it feel like the 4th game on the GBA: Metroid Fusion.

Kraid has been changed to Arachnus, Ridley has been changed to the SA-X, and the layout is inspired by Fusion's map. Samus uses her Fusion Suit colors as well. All 6 sectors could not be exactly recreated, but the flow of the game should be there

Thanks given to the makers of Editroid, which was used to make this hack

A well balanced game with a few minor glitches.Insane Mame Gamer (IMG)2023-05-20Version 1.0

After not playing Metroid games for quite a long time or 30 years time and then returning to play this rom I have to admit I was a wee bit rusty so there were things I had forgotten and had to relearn. For example there's a part where you're required to jump higher than the height the jump boots propel you and I felt like a kid all over again when by fluke I rediscovered the only way to execute such a jump was to first drop a few bombs to gain some additional height and then precisely time the jump. I initially thought the game was left unfinished at that point in time but after experimenting was pleasantly surprised to discover I could continue playing.

in spite of the of the game feeling a little unfinished and unpolished in certain areas and the questionable parts such as there being no way of entering the same door you exited or getting back on the same elevator, the game contains all the elements that make for a great game. Things that many other hacks of this particular title don't have. For one it's enjoyable, the difficulty is well balanced and not unfair and the items are well distributed throughout the levels. I like the palette choices on many parts and I especially liked the idea of Samus finding a different colored suit. I think additional challenge would be nice towards the end after defeating the final boss and being given a time limit to escape. With a little bit of polish this game has the potential to be equally as good if not better than some of the better hacks such as Deluxe. I would like to see another patch of this rom in the future that adds a bit of polish. Save states are strongly suggested for anyone deciding to play this rom that way if you end up getting stuck somewhere due to a glitch you don't have to start the entire thing again.
