Hack description

Never liked how Samus feels very heavy in this game, it feels off compared to all the other games in the series.
This patch aims to make Samus less heavy by adjusting gravity to be less severe making her fall slightly slower. Jumping height has been adjusted to match the vanilla game as closely as possible and bomb timer has been delayed a bit to make double/multi bomb jump still possible and not disrupt normal gameplay.
The result is that Samus retains her speed in all directions but down, resulting in maneuverable movement without feeling gravity weighing Samus down.

Metroid Advance Game Editor (MAGE) v1.3 was used to create this hack.

More problems than worth itMaxentirunos2023-03-06Version 1.0

It's funny that this hack was the one that made me create an account just for the review.

This is not a fix, and it's not an improvement. It's a personal preference that makes the entire game worse just so that Samus could feel 'floaty' like in Super Metroid.

Samus doesn't fall as fast, but also doesn't jump as fast anymore. It make it horrible to dodge enemies attacks or attempt wall and bomb jumps

Super Metroid gravity physics are now the exception to the rule for Metroid games, and quite frankly a feature of its time when the games couldn't update fast enough and so made the character slower.

I don't want to discourage the creator from working on more hacks, but this one is clearly not a good idea.

Not a FixFelixWright2023-02-17Version 1.0

Never like it when subjective changes based on preference are labelled as "improvements" or "fixes."

Samus falls slower yes but she also jumps slower since jump and fall speed is tied together.

The bomb timing changes are said to not interfere with bomb jumps, apparently they weren't given enough scrutiny because that's exactly what they do. I implore the author to test beyond the first 3 bombs or learn how to bomb jump beyond just mashing the button. (which is still possible here, making the changes to bomb timers even more unnecessary)

Overall it feels like Samus is stuck in a tub of molasses the whole game, instead of matching the feel of other Metroid titles.
