Hack description

When MartsINY (current author) and DurfarC started to have a different vision on the game (mostly for level lenght and some other level design aspects), they agreed that after at least 6 month of the original Mega Man 4 Voyage release, MartsINY could release a version fitting "How Mega Man 4 Voyage should have been in his vision". So the current ROM hack is not pretending to be better than Mega Man 4 Voyage, but to correspond to MartsINY's vision of a Mega Man game.

If you already played the original Mega Man 4 Voyage, consider this game only as a different version of it, such as what it could have been. It is in no way trying to be a huge improvement in accomplishment over Mega Man 4 Voyage (mostly level redesigning was done).

This ROM hack is a major overhaul of Mega Man 4 that changes the original game so much that it can almost be considered a new game altogether. In fact, with the exception of the names of the 8 robot masters, very little is left from the original game.

Mega Man 4 Voyage strives to be one of the most extensive Mega Man ROM hacks to be 100% completed and released to date, with an original storyline, new places to explore, reprogrammed robot master AIs, an improved weapon arsenal, new fortress bosses and an enormous soundtrack with almost 40 original songs to accompany it all. At the same time, it still tries to stick to the "run, jump and shoot" formula of the original classic Mega Man games. The hack should be suitable for veterans and casual players alike; it is more difficult than the original Mega Man 4, but easier than most other ROM hacks and fan games out there.

What started as a one-man project has resulted in a fine collaboration between DurfarC (main author, level design, programming, music), MartsINY (main boss designer, programming) and chiptune composers Golden Shades, RRThiel, Cosmic Gem and MarkTherence. Furthermore, the hack incorporates patches, programming assets and graphics from a wide range of people.

Please check out the "About - MartsINY" file for more information about the hack, including more detailed credits. Enjoy!

Impressive!Mother Kojiro2023-12-03Version 1.0

This hack impresses right out the gate with some great level design, new stage gimmicks, and a solid aesthetic. Each of the stages look great, and there are lots of brand new enemies, albeit implemented from future entries in the series. The stage gimmicks, as mentioned, are brand new, and are implemented very cleverly; most any kind of danger is presented in a safer environment before you have to tackle it for real. Another neat touch is that the extra adaptors are hidden in little substages with their own tilesets, making you feel like you've entered another world. Said adaptors (like each of the weapons) do something completely different from the base game. All of this with a KILLER new soundtrack, and you've got yourself a must-play hack!

Blue Version, Just as GOOD as the Original!!!ZxRO2023-04-09Version 1.0

When it comes to Mega Man Voyage, there is no better Mega Man hack in my opinion, and Blue Version is Just as good as the original. The reason I consider Mega Man Voyage and Blue Version the greatest Mega Man hacks is the quality that went into the level design and boss fights. This is a game I could see Capcom bring out and all the die hard Mega Man fans praising it as there favorite game in the series. If you played the orignal and had a great time you will definitely have a blast playing Mega Man 4 Voyage - Blue Version. Thank You for the Best Mega Man Hacks

MM4 Voyage - Blue Version - easier, but...diablo6662023-04-08Version 1.0

...it doesn't mean bad

In fact, another vision is interesting. Really interesting. Where there was an indistinct division of zones in graphic terms, they immediately tried without dividing zones, in the same style (i.e. each location has its own graphic solutions)

But I wonder: "Why is it raining in the Toad man Zone, although clearly the rest of the location is icy??"

But basically, I have no complaints about the graphical shell, music, or bosses. The level design is simplified in places or slightly overplayed in a different way, which gives an easy additional complexity.

I saw a different vision of the author as "changes of ideas", but in my own way. Is it bad? Nothing like that.

Will I recommend it? To tell the truth, yes. Although simplified places, but well balanced. Because of this, I don't have the feeling that the hack is missing something. The Original Voyage and This Version are pretty good And IT's NOT WORTH combining them under one vision, because MartsINY and DurfarC are different. A good hack and that's it!
