A Wonderful ExperimentMother Kojiro2017-12-15Version 1.0

It almost seems like the purpose of this hack was to answer a lot of "what ifs", and it does that very well, right from the beginning. You'll see boring old plains with red hills and pipes, underwater mushrooms and hellish coral at night, and more all in the very first world. Each world has its own theme, which is a neat idea for the original Super Mario Bros.; many future titles in the franchise have this, but it's not common to see it here. Almost every world is packed with every kind of experiment you could imagine, and it's interesting to see how things play out; it's almost like laying open the very source code of the original game. You'll see castle walls at night and underground, underwater castles, underground castles, castles with daylight for some reason, a fake Bowser that's actually a piranha plant, and tons of other oddities. One of the neatest structural experiments is a bridge that connects 2 castles in the night sky. The level design is mostly fair, save for a hellish underwater castle or two; you might not have to rely on states very heavily. Make no mistake: this hack is raw, but if you're looking for something experimental, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better example than this.

Not quite finished...lexluthermiester2012-12-26-

This review is for version 1.0.

There are many part to this hack that make it near unplayable. The fact is that in many levels there is the possibility of getting stuck. For example, in the water level on world 5, if you go up too high on the flag pole you float down and go right past the end point door. Mario then keeps right on going infinitely.

There are also glaring problems with the focus of the game's "reality". For instance, flying koopas underwater? And floating castles (ie. on the water)?

Still, there are some very good ideas that make this hack worth polishing up. Underground water levels and many other fun aspects that would make this a truly great hack.

The creator of this hack should find a few people to play through it and give pointers (yes I'm volunteering) on how the game plays and what issues it has.

The verdict for this version, is that it has great potential. But needs tweaking and polishing. It can be finished, but only if you are willing to start from the beginning a few times. Or use cheat codes....
