Hack description

This is a simple patch for Super Mario Bros. 2 (USA) that disables the flashing effect when a bomb explodes, making the sky turn a static orange during the explosion instead. Intended for players with photosensitive epilepsy or those sensitive to flashing effects.

Compatible with all versions of SMB2U and all standard SMB2U hacks.

We NEED more of such! I do not have seizure problems, but despite not I was never a big fan of flashing stuff, I find them completly unnecessary actually. Not everyone is like "Wow a bomb exploded and a WHOLE lightning came from my screen and flashed in all my walls!" joke aside. XD

This hack does what it says perfectly and I do prefer playing said game and SMB.2 hacks using this!

Personal recommandation: I'm on my knees asking you do do exactly THIS but with FDS Doki Panic! And to also fix the waterfalls from said game that are exaggerated and give headaches. Who will do it? I would if I knew how, only you can.

Thanks in advance if you do, if not, I respect that pal!

As someone who is photosensitive, I'm always appreciative when anyone takes the time to change or remove flashing effects from games. This was one of my favorite games as a kid, but my parents would rarely let me play it because of some of the different effects in the game which could have an affect on me due to my condition. I largely spent time watching my brother play it while I was far away in the doorway to the room.

As an adult, I've risked it of my own volition a few times because I knew what to expect, and it sounds insane, but I've had to shut my eyes tight and look away from the screen in a well-lit room just to play it so that the extreme light/dark contrast from bombs wouldn't trigger an episode.

Be able to play this without the anxiety of squinting and shying away from the bomb effect is a blessing. Full marks all around to the hack developer.
