| Overall recommended, but beware of a game-breaking glitch! | MetalSmasher86 | 2023-08-06 | Version 1.0 |
First off, let me say that I love this hack. The level design is tough but fair, and there's twice as many levels as the original game! What's not to love? Well, just be very careful in 5-2, because there's a vine leading to a bonus area with a flagpole at the end that will crash the game if you touch it. Just fix that glitch and this could easily be one of the best SMB1 hacks out there!
| The Double Big Mac Of Super Mario Hacks | Insane Mame Gamer (IMG) | 2023-07-30 | Version 1.0 |
I call this thing the double big mac hack and the reason why I give it this title is because of it's extraordinary length, 64 levels to be exact. Starting off I was able to effortlessly breeze through the majority of the game without any difficulty while having accumulated well over 20 lives. That was until reaching world 6-8 where I experienced a fair bit of difficulty proceeding or choosing a path to take and lost some of them. The 7-4 underwater-level where you encounter Lakitu is something I'm not particularly accustomed to nor dealing with and as a result it definitely gave me the most trouble. In spite of the game being a marathon I was still able to complete it, making it through all 64 boards in just under a few hours time without using or requiring any save states and without continuing until world 8. All in all I thought the level design was pretty good. After a while the game began feeling a bit repetitious but that's probably due to the fact there are so many levels, however I did appreciate that the game was not overtly repetitive nor difficult and that there were enough 1ups and challenges included throughout the thing to retain my interest long enough for me to finish it. Props to the maker of this for taking the time to create such a long and fleshy SMB1 hack, one that has way over the typical amount of levels. I've been waiting for a treat like this for a long time. 32 levels for a guy like me just doesn't feel like enough sometimes.
