Hack description

When it comes to palettes, Ghost Chaser Densei features somewhat dim colors compared to Densei Makai, the original arcade game. The reason for this is because the developers made it so the brightness variable (which then gets sent to the SNES' brightness register) only goes up to value 0x0A, which would be the equivalent of around 40% brightness.

This hack fixes this issue by instead making the brightness variable go up to value 0x0F (which would the equivalent of 100% brightness), allowing the game to display the actual undimmed palettes.

Note that this hack is also compatible with the translation patches available for this game.

An essential hack for this gameAlgunar2023-11-17Version 1.0

This hack does exactly what it says and what should be expected.

All kudo's to Mister Man, as this pretty mediocre Super Famicom conversion of Denjin Makai arcade game desperately needed this treatment.

The game now finally looks just "like it should have been when originally released" (in terms of brightness and colors palette at least, despite the poor arcade conversion).

Now, I see another Super Famicom game which would deserve the exact same treatment: Ryuuko no Ken 2, way better known in the West as Art of Fighting 2.

For some reasons, the game received a Japan only arcade conversion on Super Famicom and this conversion, while being not that bad, is also way too dark in terms of brightness...

Obscure arcade games conversions should not literally mean obscure games, should not they?

Much needed.Pethronos2023-11-16Version 1.0

Lately I've been revisiting some SNES beat'em ups, and I remembered why I hated GCD so much. Like many other arcade ports, it suffers from cut content and lower graphic definition, but moreover, this game lacked... light.

When Mister Man updated his Eek! The Cat patch, I saw that light... And here it is.

A true gem, hidden by its own obscurity has been enlightened finally! Thanks Mister Man for your efficiency ;D
