Hack description

Super Mario All-Stars has always been a great compilation of remastered classics, all retouched to bring each game's visuals to life in a new generation... except for Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels, which were completely remade to more closely resemble Super Mario Bros. 3.

This is a hack that aims to improve the 16-bit remasters of those games, in an attempt to make them look more accurate to the style of the original NES games.

Most of the sprites have been completely changed, with Bonus areas now having completely redrawn Mario and Luigi portraits and Luigi now sporting his original SMB1 look, being an identical twin to Mario.

This also includes the brick fix done by BMF54123.

Feel like you could've done at least something for LuigiMissingNumbers2024-07-11Version 1.0

The sprites are very nice, don't get me wrong, but I don't understand the decision with Luigi. Yes, I get that he was technically identical in the original game, but Super Mario All-Stars sort of prides itself on making sure Mario and Luigi look distinct from each other, seeing how it updated SMB3 and even SMW to do so. So the decision to make Luigi identical feels like a conflict of interest compared to the rest of the package.

Excellent, Save for a Nitpickgamingcat022619912024-01-31Version 1.0

The nitpick involves a graphical mistake with the Empty Blocks in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels. Other than that, the creator did a superb job on this ROM Hack. It's what Nintendo SHOULD'VE done rather than rehash the SMB3 graphics for Mario, Luigi, the power-ups, etc.. Everything feels more accurate to the NES original in SMB1 and the FDS original in Lost Levels, too.
