Hack description

In the original Link's Awakening for Game Boy, the most notorious glitch was probably the Screen Warp Glitch, which allowed you to reach otherwise unreachable locations. Sadly, this glitch was patched before Link's Awakening DX came out.

This hack restores the Screen Warp Glitch for DX.

To use it, move Link towards the edge of a screen. Just before the screen would scroll to the next screen, press the SELECT button to bring up the map. Press SELECT again to go back, and Link should now have teleported to the opposite side of the next screen!

Simple but effectiveGreyfox2023-12-22Version 1.0

People say that some rare copies of Link's awakening has screen warp, however this good old trick was not available in the GBC version, until this hack, it's fairly easy to do, and good to shut the owl up.

Totally Unnecessary!Bobolicious812023-12-21Version 1.0

I don't blame Nintendo for fixing it. It was a glitch after all. But the screen warp is a glitch as legendary as Zelda herself, and even more fun to mess around with! Now I can finally stand triumphantly on top of the Egg, obtain the level 2 power bracelet before the first dungeon, fight the mythical Garbage Albatross, or become forever lost in the space between spaces IN FULL COLOR! A nightmare to some... A DREAM TO OTHERS!!

Restores an essential glitch/feature?Nintenja2023-12-20Version 1.0

So as a kid I remember these puzzles that I couldn't solve. One of the best things was hitting select while walking into the edge of the screen to warp past obstacles... sometimes it would soft lock you into being stuck, but sometimes it would help you get a heart container or item early. This was of course a glitch/feature only available in the original black and white Link's Awakening that I was honestly kinda sad to see removed in the DX version. Great job restoring thus feature/glitch for all us gamers who aren't patient/good at puzzles.

When I first beat Links Awakening it was only because of this glitchhdofu2023-12-20Version 1.0

For the longest time I could not find the proper entrance to the animal village and exploited this glitch to gain entry oddly enough I recall learning about it in the cheats in nintendo power. Definitely one of the most fun glitches allowing you to get things such as the level 0 invisible shield.

Great ideaLigeia2023-12-20Version 1.0

The Screen Warp Glitch is one of those glitches that actually make a game better. Being able to cheat like that if you want to adds tons of replayability to Link's Awakening, because it grants the player a lot of freedom. It even ended up being used as a deliberate feature in some smartly-designed games like Anodyne. The Screen Warp Glitch is the one thing that prevented monochrome Link's Awakening from being completely obsolete.

So being able to pull it off in Link's Awakening DX is of course great ! Thanks for the great idea and great execution. 100% recommended of course

I've waited years for this!intrinsix232023-12-20Version 1.0

I have always kept a copy of the original black and white version because I loved the Screen Warp Glitch. It is so nostalgic and brings me back to my childhood. But now I can get the same experience without limiting myself to the old B/W visuals. Tested with Redux hack, works perfectly! This (plus Redux) is my new definitive version of Link's Awakening!
