Massive overkillLigeia2022-09-29Version 1.1

The base game is already easy as is but why not an easy type version if you're too lazy to enter some game genie codes. Thing is, the author went completely overboard with changes that end up being totally unnecessary.

I mean, 65,535 EXP each battle + free items was more than enough to be godlike. What's the point in making each character start with 50 strength, 25 agility etc, when they already gain so much experience each battle ? What's the point of the constant vampire effect when all drops are elixirs, items + magic are free and you gain levels so quickly ? That's massive overkill that also ends up killing any fun and creating infinite loops that make the game unbeatable, as was mentioned in the previous review.

So I don't recommend it as is, but I guess it could change if the vampire effect was removed, solving the current unwinnable state of the hack, for people who're looking for a very relaxed FFIV playthrough.

Soft Lock at very endKruize2021-12-23Version 1.1

At first, it seems like a fun patch. Everyone essentially has a passive Vampire effect when attacking and a passive Magic Absorb defense effect on them 24/7, respectively healing HP when you deal damage with basic attacks or when you're hit with magic spells. Which sounds fun in theory, but eventually you run into some serious bugs which I'll explain.

Bugs:

  1. 1

The Vampire effect when you attack, basically heals you for the damage you deal, however this has a reverse effect against undead enemies. This means, the damage you deal heals undead, but damages you. So if you're not careful, you can deal damage to yourself and wipe yourself out and possibly your entire team. This is one of the minor bugs, so to work around this you just need to use Cure on undead enemies and Cure4 in the later parts of the game.

  1. 2

Goblez vs. Tellah. This almost looks like a Soft Lock, because instead of Tellah dying, he absorbs all magic damage dealt to him, from the effect I mentioned above. This is also a scripted battle, so you have no control over Tellah. So the battle drags on, for a very long time, giving the impression of a Soft Lock. However, if you speed up the encounter, or just wait a very long time, eventually Golbez will die after a very long fight. The game will proceed.

  1. 3

Rubicant vs. Edge. This was the very first case of a Soft Lock for me. Despite the Readme file saying that this was fixed, Edge and Rubicant will still Heal each other from the Fire magic that's exchanged throughout their battle, creating an endless loop. However, on my second playthrough, I used the remix music version, and Edge was able to slowly chip away at Rubicant's HP with basic attacks (not entirely sure if this was due to different versions or not). This was another scripted battle, so if sped up or just waiting a very long time, you can eventually win the battle, as long as Edge's basic attacks are dealing more damage than Rubicant healing.

  1. 4

Giant CPU. This is a buggy fight. If you try to target the CPU instead of the Attacker or Defender, you end up attacking the Attacker or Defender regardless. This will result in the CPU eventually by itself, spamming Globe199. However, this isn't a problem, because you will absorb the magic and heal. However, if you're not fast in defeating it, the CPU will try to do something else on it's turn and the gameplay will freeze. I'm not entirely sure what's happening here, but I noticed the CPU casts Wall on the Attacker as well. So something gets out of sync and the game breaks. To work around this, you just need to defeat the Attacker and Defender as quickly as possible and then defeat the CPU equally as fast, before it breaks combat.

  1. 5

The 5th and final bug, unfortunately this cannot be bypassed. When Golbez and FuSoYa are fighting in the second scripted battle, with Zeromus, the game gets into a Soft Lock scenario. Golbez and FuSoYa use Meteo which heals Zeromus for 9999, and "Crystal" which does nothing against Zeromus. Then Zeromus uses Meteo against FuSoYa and Golbez, however both of them heal 9999. Then FuSoYa casts "Dummy" which is likely a placeholder spell and does nothing. Then the fight loops and starts over indefinitely. Both Zeromus and the party keep healing indefinitely for 9999 from Meteo, and because this is a scripted battle, there's no way to break of out of this loop manually.

If you plan on beating the game, please avoid this hack/patch. You will get stuck at the very end and there's nothing you can do about it. This seems like an unfortunate case where the creator had a neat idea in his mind, but took it too far and didn't playtest his patch/hack properly from start to finish. Hopefully one day he will come back and fix these problems, most importantly the last bug, so the game isn't impossible to clear.

Makes the game even simplerJediking122018-02-23Version 1.1

This is what they mean by "Easy Type" no more mindless level grinding. To be fair the vanilla game is easy but starts getting difficult out of the blue. Also, one complaint is that the game some times crashes during a boss fight.
