Combining 10 classic F-Zero and Satellaview courses in to 5 Hybrid tracks, F-Zero Hybrid brings new challenges to the familiar feel of F-Zero's Gameplay.

Courses are faithfully recreated including AI behavior from the classic games. If you are a die-hard F-Zero player turns, collisions and general flow should mirror what you are used to... until suddenly you find yourself driving on a different track!

Difficulty has been tuned to be accessible while remaining challenging amongst a wide variety of skill levels.

!!!HIGHLY recommend playing with an MSU-1 compatible emulator (SNES9x and BSNES are two options) otherwise a SD2SNES or other way of playing MSU ROMs on original hardware.!!!

Features:

- 5 Unique Tracks which combine 10 Classic F-Zero (6 from F-Zero and 4 from BS F-Zero 2 Practice) courses to form "Hybrid" League
- Second "Hybrid Mirror" league with courses flipped on their Y-Axis (Left turns become right, etc.)
- CD-Quality (MSU-1 / PCM) Soundtrack
- Customized Horizons / Color Palettes
- Custom Tiles and Tile Properties (Additional North/South jumps, other cosmetic changes.)
- Custom Title Art
- Custom Credits (Expert Mode only)
- UFO (Fun Police) supported tracks

... And a special Easter-Egg for F-Zero die hards!

A Wonderful, Grueling Journey AwaitsSonicMaster5192024-02-17Version 1.0

I'm not sure where to start when it comes to writing a review on this website, but this rom hack moved me so greatly I knew I had to recommend it to others. Let's start with the courses themselves: F-Zero Hybrid presents two leagues for players to choose. The options are either Hybrid or Hybrid Mirror. Choose your vehicle and get ready, because these levels are LONG! One of the tracks in particular took me a whole five minutes to complete. That's not a bad thing, either; these courses are so fun it's hard not to like them and their length. Some of the fun is certainly lost if you haven't played the original F-Zero courses at all as you won't recognize where one course ends and another starts. It's all great fun and if you operate purely on muscle memory when it comes to F-Zero, prepare to have your socks blown off. Some parts are challenging but all of it is fair... for the most part. (More on that later.)

The music in this hack is also just delightful. Every course has its own, unique theme that really shines. If you've ever listened to F-Zero 99's mystery track music and enjoyed it, I'm sure you'll enjoy this hack's tunes as well. It perfectly combines musical melodies from separate tracks and puts it all together into one delightful tune that perfectly fits the track. If I had to point towards one singular issue with the hack, I would point at the third track, also known as Mute Blue. The track is delightful, combining Mute City IV with Big Blue, but it unfortunately seems to bring over the fourth Mute City's worst part: At one point, you cruise over boost panels to go super fast. You can take a hard right to avoid the jump panels, but if you hit the jump panels, you are greeted with a large area filled with even more jump panels. You'd better use 'em to get back on track: Otherwise, that's an easy death for you. That's not where my complaints stem from - it's a fun part and I'm glad they incorporated it - but my issue lies right after. Also from Mute City IV, you're greeted with another boost panel straight after this part. No biggie, right? Issue is, if you take that, you're going to slam into a wall and potentially spin out of control. It's not super cool if you aren't expecting it and even after playing through the original Mute City IV, I still fell prey to this. It doesn't take away from the rest of the hack, it's just a small nitpick.

This review is getting rather long, so I suppose I'll conclude it now. F-Zero Hybrid is a gauntlet of sorts that does not let up on the length of its tracks. The mirror league, although lacking in new content, is a neat fun addition if you wish to extend your playtime even further. This hack isn't particularly challenging - most of its difficulty comes from the size of the tracks - but it's still a fun hack and I'm sure it'll satiate just about any F-Zero fan's hunger for more. If you haven't tried this hack yet and you like F-Zero, give it a shot. I'm almost certain it will not disappoint.

A Fun ChallengePowerPanda2024-02-12Version 1.0

This is a great hack. It takes courses you're familiar with, but mashes 2 courses together to create something new. But that's the "what". What makes this hack stand out is the "how". To put it simply, Khilendil chose the RIGHT courses for the mashup. Silent Sands takes the 90-degree turns of Silence, and then flows seamlessly into the graceful curves of Sand Ocean. The nature of this hack means that the courses are long. Most take around 1 minute per lap. This makes them more challenging than the original game. Wildfire Wharf especially is an endurance race. However, it's nothing that someone who has played F-Zero or F-Zero 99 won't be able to handle with a little practice.
