Hack description

This is a graphical improvement modification compatible with both vanilla Final Fantasy and Grond's Final Fantasy. It should also be compatible with any other romhacks that do not alter the locations of character palettes or sprites such as Final Fantasy Restored though compatibility is not guaranteed.

In short, this mod ports over class comparable battle and overworld sprites from Final Fantasy 3 on the NES, but with many modifications and improvements made to them. Orphan pixels have been removed, questionable clusters cleaned up, and some animation frames have been completely redone! There is even an entirely new design for the Red Wizard, inspired by other games interpretations of the class, as well as a modified Black Wizard without balloon pants! The Ninja class also has an entirely new scratch-made set of overworld sprites so that it no longer looks like an amorphous red blob.

Screenshots were taken in Grond's Final Fantasy as well as Final Fantasy Restored using a "true color" palette, which is included in this mod's download. If the emulator you are using supports custom palettes then you can use the attached file to get the sprites to look as they are shown here. Otherwise, the colors will be slightly different.

v1.01 UPDATE (GFF Version): Updated Lufein's NPC sprite palettes to reflect the changes made to the White Wizard's overworld sprite. v1.01 can be safely installed over 1.0 without needing to start with a fresh ROM or save file.

Base FF version remains at v1.0, as it's unaffected.
