Hack description

UPDATE:

This an improvement to the one that was released on June 22, 2024. This one includes the "Gu-Huh" sound that Banjo makes during the intro title sequence. Please use this version instead of the earlier one.

MOD DESCRIPTION:

This mod removes the background music in the USA v1.0 of Banjo-Kazooie. It's worth nothing that this mod is by far superior to the available disable music GameShark code, as well as the disable music option available in the XBox Live Arcade version of the game. Jingles such as the one that plays when a jiggy appears, when you collect a jiggy, collect a jinjo, collect all jinjos in a level, get an extra life statue, complete a honeycomb, the transformation music, as well as the beginning "da na na na na na" jingle of the wading boots, turbo trainers, and gold feathers have all been kept, in order to maintain the character of the game.

CODES:

Within the readme file, you will find codes that are recommended to enhance the experience of the game.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The first version of this mod was finished on August 15, 2023, but the release was delayed, due to concerns regarding whether it should be released with the combined widescreen patch. In the end, it was decided to release this mod without combining the widescreen patch, but instead providing users with the widescreen code, which is just as good.

Understanding the usefulness of "No Music" hacks is keyUberdubie2024-06-22Version 1.0

Firstly, from what I've seen so far, this works perfectly and exactly as advertised! I will be doing a full-playthrough using this shortly, and will edit this if there's any issues during the playthrough (not that I expect I'll have to).

Secondly, I keep noticing the same one or two 'reviewers' here don't understand how incredibly useful 'no music' hacks are to some of us. I'm a multi-platform streamer. I will JUMP at any 'no music' hack I see if the game looks interesting enough. First and foremost this is avoid any music copyright issues, because that can be a serious issue a LOT more often than I'd like. Not having to worry at all about music copyright is always a plus in my book. Also this way, I can stream games with other music of my choice playing while keeping all sound effects in tact. In addition to streaming games, I also make clip compilations from my streams, and LOVE when I can keep in the live sound effects in said clips and edit my own soundtrack on top. All of these activities bring in some nice side income for me, so while it's mostly a hobby, I take this very seriously. And thus I sincerely appreciate anyone taking the time to make such hacks. Of course, many others out there have their own purposes for these types of hacks as well.

So again, this hack does exactly what it was meant to do. Not understanding the purpose(s) of 'no music' hacks is not a valid reason to give a negative review.

Part of the fun of Banjo Kazooie is Grant Kirkhope's fantastical score. Removing it is akin to removing the character of the game. So no, you can't preserve the character with some jingles when you already ripped the character out.
